Why would Utd need more south american players?

The champions of europe and arguabally the greatest club team ever are composed of mainly of european players.

Xavi and Iniesta, the two lynchpins of Barcelonas play are both Spanish. As is Puyol, David Villa, Pique, Valdes,Pedro and Busquets.

Besides, the beautiful football you just saw Barcelona play, was born out of the "dutch influence", of the great Johan Cruyf.

    Dont forget Frank Rijkaard there!

Man U did well the first 15 mins, forcing Barcelona to play on their own half. If they kept that up they would have had a good chance (where I have to refer to Real's play in Barcelona earlier this season).

Fergy shouldnt leave. A man with his heart at the club, you hardly ever see that anymore.

Utd started well but it would have been impossible to keep up that tempo throughout the game. Surprised Fergie didnt go with 5 in midfield, Maybe Fletcher to stop Xavi and Iniesta playing. You would basically have to play anti-football to beat that Barcelona team and that is not the Manchester Utd way, the better team won, good advert for football

the most memorable moment for me in this final, see fergie's fist so damn hard in the closing minutes

talking about him getting pawned twice like that. maybe now his obsession will be to "knock barca off the perch"

Sir Alex is world class for sure. Has his day come and gone? Possibly...his hands were trembling when he realized his team let the win slip away. But this guy is without a doubt a legend in the game.

Fergie's tactical skills have never been excellent.United played well in the first half but after that-
    a total mess.
Sir Alex had to concentrate the team's efforts on something-either a solid defense play or
    to ruin the Barca's play.
Instead of this he tried to play like equal with Barcelona-giving them free spaces to score goals
and hoping his players will make something in attack.
The first two goals of Barca were from holes in United's defense, only the third,Villa's goal was classy.

But to retire..I'm afraid his successor will not be enough talented like manager, like Fergie's skills
to build big teams with no big money.

That's right, no reason for Fergie to retire yet! There are some players in United who need to retire after this season..

sir alex is 70 YEARS old yet when you look at him it looks like he can go for another 5 - 10 years. He loves the club so much that when he does retire he'll make sure that he leaves a great team that can carry on for the next 5 years or so. This united team is not the best its ever been and alot of players coming to their end whereas barcas players are all in their prime right now but sir alex will to what he does best and rebuild it.

Nowadays, the only way to win Barça is playing anti-football, like Mou did with Madrid and Inter, and you can't win more than 50% times.

If Alan Greenspan can be Chairman of the board of governors of the federal reserve at age 80 then Fergie will not have any problems managing United beyond that!

This is quite possibly the most idiotic post Ive seen on these boards.

As Barcelona is concerned they will have a major hole to fill when Xavi leaves. He is leaving soon, you only have to look at how many games the man has played and how he's been skipping matches for the Spanish National Team. Also as his skills deteriorate he will become more like old man Pirlo and less like Barcelona. He is the wheel that turns Barcelona as they are presently set up.

I don't think Iniesta can do his job and Alcantara will not be ready for a few years and even then he will have to get used to playing 1st team Champions League Football.

As for the other teams they are always improving. Young players are getting better, new players are coming through the ranks and players are switching clubs. Anyone who tries to say one team will dominate for 5 years is just daft.

Xavi can easily play for another 2-3 years, imo. He's handled his body well, and in his position, you don't need the burst of lung speed or the need to lunge into a tackle.

Also, you'll see more of Thiago in the coming season. He'll be immense for Barcelona, and if not him, then Barcelona can always cough up the money for Cesc.
