Now the Gunners are in 3rd place in the EPL 9 points behind 1st place Manchester United with only 5 matches left in the season. Manchester United looks to have booked their spot in the semifinals of the Champions League with a 2-0 away win over Schalke 04 on Tuesday. They also have their 19th EPL title in their sights with a 6-point lead over Chelsea, but they have a tough match against Arsenal and they host Chelsea next week. Their offense has not been playing great recently, but their defense is. In their last 3 EPL matches they are 2-0-1 and in that span they have not given up one goal. Arsenal has not had issues on offense scoring 8 goals in their last 4 matches, but their defense has been iffy. Even with a Man U offense that is not really on form they have to play good defense in this match, especially on the wings where the Red Devils are strong. Manchester United beat Arsenal at home earlier this season 1-0. This season in the EPL Manchester United has scored 71 goals and given up 32 and Arsenal has scored 67 goals and given up 36. Dimitar Berbatov lead the EPL in goals scored this season, but he, along with Darren Fletcher, are both likely out with this match duo to injuries. Arsenal does not have any major injuries to report. Manchester United Recent Form 4/26/2011 Schalke 04 0 Manchester United 2 (Champions League) 4/23/2011 Manchester United 1 Everton 0 4/19/2011 Newcastle United 0 Manchester United 0 4/16/2011 Manchester City 1 Manchester United 0 (FA Cup semis) 4/12/2011 Manchester United 2 Chelsea 1 (Champions League) Arsenal Last 5 Matches: 4/24 Bolton 2 Arsenal 1 4/20 Tottenham 3 Arsenal 3 4/17 Arsenal 1 Liverpool 1 4/10 Blackpool 1 Arsenal 3 4/2 Arsenal 0 Blackburn 0 Arsenal plays a flowing game based on passing and if they can move the ball well they have a great chance to win this match. In the match between these 2 rivals earlier in the EPL season at Manchester Arsenal played pretty well and won the time of possession battle (54% to 46%) and they will look to do that again. Arsenal's Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri, and Theo Walcott are all healthy and have combined for 33 goals in the Premier League this season, but they have their work cut out for them in this match. DF Rio Ferdinand is back from injury and leads a great defense and G Edwin van der Sar has 3 clean sheets in his last 3 matches. I think that streak will end in this match, as Arsenal will score at least 1 goal. The one main concern for the Gunners is their defense and with the likes of Javier Hernandez, Nani, and Wayne Rooney those worries are legit. I think Rooney will come out and score in this match, as he has been playing well as of late. Manchester United has great wing offense and the Arsenal defense has to spread out and not allow the Red Devils to attack from the wings. Arsenal has an Over/Under 2.5 goals record of 6-4 in their last 10 matches with Manchester United at 4-6.
