Email Notifications to Subscriber Threads not working
Even when I am subscribed, I often do not get email notifications when someone posts to that thread. Is there some other requirement? Do I have to post in that thread? Or log in every 24 hours or something?
The policy at the bottom of the notification email says "There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again." But I am sure I have visited the forum again and still am not always sent new notifications.
This is a bad policy from a marketing standpoint. I do Internet marketing and I don’t know why you would want to stop notifications just because someone hasn’t visited the site since the last email notification! That’s self-defeating. If they have subscribed, they are still interested and you shouldn't cut them off after only one miss!
From my experience, it is not working properly because I have visited the site and still my email notifications stop. You really should have someone look into this. It is costing you many visitors. If I were you, I would first just remove that restriction and let the email notifications flow regardless of whether someone has visited the site since the last email notification! Everyone has opted into them. Why restrict them? And if you insist on it, make sure it is working properly. It is not.
Just saw your thread today. Can you please confirm if the issue is still existing? Also, can you please direct me to the said thread you're trying to subscribe?
It seems one HAS to click through to the thread using the latest email notification or you don't get the next email notification. That's crazy and hurts both the subscriber and SBR. Just get rid of that restriction. Whoever decided to do that should be fired. Terrible marketing decision!
Barn, you need to click on the email SBR sends you to get updated with all of the posts since you subscribed to the thread. Once you click the email SBR sent you then the system resets. You will not recieve a new emil from us until you again open the new email to read the posts. This is so that we don't send you an email every time a post is made on the subscribed thread.
Okay. I guess I understand the logic there of not wanting to send someone an email every time there is a post, but it also means that if a person doesn't click on that email, they will never get another reminder about the thread that they expressed an interest in. That's not good for either you or them.
Maybe you should compromise and send them another email reminder at some point if they haven't responded to the first one as they now have forgotten about or can't see that first email notification in their Inbox. Otherwise you are losing a lot of interested subscribers.
