    My pm's are missing.

Even though I've pm'ed on this site up till a few weeks ago, I just went into my Control Panel and my recent pm's are missing - Sent Items after 8-19-09 are gone, and my pm Inbox has nothing after 10-19-09.

    Anyone else have this problem?

I definitely did not delete anything.

Currently my pm box states "Inbox contains 26 messages.
You have 61 messages stored, of a total 200 allowed."

    Explanations?

Wondering what could have caused this.

Mods/Webmaster - Is there any way to retrieve the missing messages?

Disturbing. There was recently an attempted hacking/trojan attack at 2 sportsbetting sites.
Seems odd that someone would hack into my account, and then delete my recent pm's, but just changed my password to be safe.

SBR was down a few days ago and pm's were erased. I believe they think they can retrieve them all again, but I do not know for sure.

    Thanks for the explanation, MexicanStallion.

Mods - What's the current situation? Will the recent pm's be back?

PM's missing/what mod deleted my post.

My pm's for the last 4 months have been deleted from my Inbox and Sent Messages folder.

Someone on the "Site Suggestions" forum stated that SBR was down a few days ago, and pm's were lost.

    Will they be recovered? When?

One pm involved arwar, and had a message with info I need.
So this afternoon I sent him a pm explaining, and then, because he hasn't posted at this site for a few weeks, I posted in this forum "Arwar, please read your pm's", hoping to catch his attention.

    The message is now deleted.
If a mod deletes a post, is it too much to ask that a pm or email is sent to me, explaining what the problem is?
Simply deleting it with no explanation is incredibly unprofessional and unhelpful.

I sent a message to sbr's Contact Us link, asking about the missing pm's.
And I posted in the "Site Suggestions" forum, asking the same question, and whether the missing pm's will be recovered.

So far no responses from mods/webmaster.

was the thread. I guess recovering the PMs wasn't as simple as was anticipated.

I've now had a mod or mods delete one of my posts from the Think Tank, and then moved the post above this one from the Think Tank to this forum.

Yet the mod could not be bothered answering my question, as to what happened to the missing pm's and can they be recovered and if so, when.

    Thanks for the response, yisman.

Would've been nice if a mod could've posted the info when requested.

Can a mod let me know what the situation is currently re: restoring the missing pm's?

The moderators can't tell you anything regarding the PMs. That's up to the techs who deal with the server and the backups.

If a moderator could restore your PMs with a click of a button, I'm sure he would.

Yes, it seems very odd that someone would do this and simply delete a few PMs. I know some of the PM stuff was snafu'd by the server crash and I lost messages in the span back to when the system was restored. I will check with a tech to see what the odds are getting these back, but I'm also not holding my breath getting them back.

If you really do think someone hacked into your account, now qould be a good time to change your password if you haven't already done so.

Heard back from the tech department that those PMs are lost. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yeah, no one hacked his account. It was just that the PMs from mid-December until the board went down (a span of six or seven weeks) were gone, and that's true for everyone. It's a heck of a lot of PMs, and it's unfortunate that they cannot be recovered.
