    I used to stay there sometimes in the early 2000s, they are giving me a free room this week.

    One last time.

    • The Mirage in Las Vegas was put on lockdown after a shooting was reported in a hotel room.
    • The Las Vegas police said one person has been found dead.
    • Videos from the scene showed parts of the hotel on lockdown and officers moving through the premises.

    The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas was put under lockdown on Thursday night after reports emerged of a shooting in a hotel room.
    The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote in a tweet that it was investigating a shooting incident and that one person had been pronounced dead.
    "We are investigating a shooting in a hotel room at the Mirage. One person has been pronounced deceased," the department wrote. "This is an active investigation and we will provide more information as it becomes available. Please avoid the area."

    Eileen De La Cruz, a guest at the hotel, told Insider that she saw "security running in the casino" at around 8 p.m.

    I can only imagine this Hotel and Casino is being run like shit as employees are being lazy or just jumping ship and looking for new jobs now.

    This hotel might be a step down from the old Frontier.

    MGM still considers it one of their mid level properties, on par with Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand, I don't think I've stayed there since like 2007.

    I used to stay there twice a year in the 2000’s. I used to love the smell inside the casino, the pool was great and if you tipped good you drank whatever you wanted all day/night in the sports book. Great chocolate chip muffins at the Roasted Bean, too.

    I’m bummed I didn’t do one stroll through there when I was in Vegas a few months ago.

    Very lively here, the casino and restaurants and bars are immaculate.

    I am staying in a regular king room and it's nice, updated. My only bitch about the room is the bathroom is small.

    A good rule to follow is after an "incident" the place in question is safer that ever!
    Restaurants that have a food problem are way above board as are hotels and other gathering places.
    People shy away because of the negative publicity, but these are the best places to go and sometimes have great deals to draw people back!
    Enjoy the Mirage....I will miss the volcano and the aquarium at the front desk.

    I remember that huge aquarium. That was cool to check out back in the day when strolling thru the Mirage!
