    how about this? how many HBO specials did Rodney have? I love Rodney but George had like 15 HBO specials LOL
    ~~~
    I don't feel that the # of HBO Specials is a valid yardstick for great comedic genius.
    Not all comedians have the same opportunities and take different roads to greatness...
    Rodney took the comedy club and movie road while Carlin took the HBO TV Comedy and college circuit.
    Doesn't make either one better than the other.
    Rodney and Carlin were both great comedians.
    Depends on the penchant of each individual as an audience which comedian you enjoy the most.
    I saw Rodney in the flesh at a Comedy club probably 2 weeks before his death. He was just hanging out. First thing I thought to myself is he looks like shit.
    He did not take care of himself, I'm surprised he lived as long as he did. (82 years old).
    His first name was Jacob not Rodney also just for the record.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Dangerfield
    Ok yeah Robin Williams was unmatched
    Robin Williams knew how many peoples hearts he was about to break
    but his mind became so toxic and thwarted that the people closest to him said
    it was more of a when than if he would end his life
    I'd say when I was 10 years old or so.... I thought Williams was hilarious. I really wasn't a big fan with Mrs. Doubtfire... but every girl I ran into it.... couldn't stop laughing and talking about it. I didn't run into one girl that didn't think it was funny. Williams would be the last person on Earth in which I thought had a mental problem.... I just thought he was well put together. I've heard so many reasons why he killed himself.... financial problems, relationship problems, drug addiction, major depression... Parkinson's and Dementia.... who really knows? All I know is... if you are lacking stability and you feel you aren't good anymore... depression sets in.
    No one really talks about Chris Farley anymore... but to me.... he was crazy funny. Out of any comedian/actor deceased... wish this dude was still living.
    The reason there are so many Jew-Comedians is because Jew-Management run the media.
    Robin Williams was/is the master of improv.
    He is without a doubt miles above anyone you may care to sacrifice in the improv arena.
    Robin was 10 bits/ideas ahead of anyone in the room and everyone who wasn't.
    He was so lighting fast and incredibly inventive.
    In chemical terms- he was LSD/STP to everyone else as Jack Daniels/marijuana.
    My God, he was a comedic comet that flashed through our psyches far too quickly.
    He was a gift that you knew that you had to savor as he would soon be gone.
    We were so fortunate to have experienced his comedic energy.
    i agree. i was simply using it as a counter argument to the OP using Rodney's appearance count on Carson's late night show, as a tool in his argument for Rodney vs George.
    my HBO take was a strong right hand that landed flush. it wobbled his argument.
    It's weird 19th/Homie, but when I saw his face I immediately escaped with my remote.
    Don't take it personally, but I could not STAND the guy!
    Thought he was so silly and feminine-like, I never took time to go further than a few seconds of time to even look at him, much less watch his comedy.
    You will say I am wrong, no doubt.
    It's like voting for my favorite president and you have someone completely different in mind. or maybe, couldn't stand my choose either?
    My Dude! you could probably say that Roseanne Barr is the hottest chick ever and i would agree w/ you because you are MY DUDE, MY BRO-SKI !!
    seriously though, Robin Williams was a gift from God and I was sick to my stomach for days when he passed away so tragically. i was in mourning and watched a few of his stand ups from the early 2000s (i think it was the HBO special from 2003) and i watched it like 10x straight in a month.
    There are some that are awesome in their moment, like Anthony Jeselnik, Jim Jefferies, Eddie Murphy, Phyllis Diller, Benny Hill.
    Real staying power is tougher for a comedian than most other art forms because almost all jokes get old in the end.
    Carlin and Chapelle last because they are more philosophers than joke tellers.
