    Nine game slate today.
Usually on Friday's you get 15 games with all 30 teams.

    Nine games, three matinees.

NYY (Kluber) at TBR (Rich Hill)
    Kluber and Yanks -128

You would think the way NYY hit LHP and with Kluber that line would be closer to -140 than -130
I need to get back to this one.

Rockies (Gomber) at SF Giants (Cueto)
SF and Johnny Cueto is -158 at home.

Johnny Cueto should not be -158 versus anyone, even Baltimore and Matt Harvey.
I am considering the watered down Rockies here at + 148 or so.
I'll get back to this one too after I check out SF's splits versus LHP.

    Washington at LA Dodgers.
    Ross versus Buehler

    LA is -300 at home.
What did we learn about laying 2 to 1 no less 3 to 1 on any individual baseball game on opening day?
I'll say it once more, the only time I lay 3 to 1 (or even 2 to 1) on a baseball game is if the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is toeing the rubber.
Last time I checked Walker Buehler is not Jesus Christ.

I don't want any part of this one.
Running, not walking, but running far away from this game.

I'll look at the six night games later around noon time.

    Yeah.
I have my own set data base handy here (plus I use the sports data base too) https://sportsdatabase.com/mlb/query

I thought they hit LHP pretty good, after checking better than I thought.
Passing on Colorado but still wouldn't trust Cueto in any spot anymore. 2015 is six years psat.

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated.

Fuk you, you don't even know the meaning of the word 'variance' or 'value'

    What's up Bucks?
Yeah the first week can be tricky, kind of like a nudist crossing a barbed wire fence.
My approach the first month has always been short faves (or pick 'em) games or live dogs.
I've been pretty successful with that formula over the now my eleventh season writing baseball here at SBR.
    (goes back further than that)

Afternoon games I think I'm passing on.
Something about that NYY/TBR line makes me uncomfortable.

I'll get back to you after lunch about the six night games.
Hang in there, don't blow your bankroll in April.

"Variance" are events that keep the right side from winning and covering..
That is a direct quote from corky..
I've been playing short favs and what I consider to be "live" dogs..
    Pittsburgh...
Only playing one game a day..
Guess I just need to reevaluate and go with my first instinct instead of trying to dig deeper..
    I dunno bro..
Second guessing and that's never good..

I actually read that but I don't respond anymore because it's energy used that I need to apply here and my other baseball endeavors on the outside.

First and foremost 'variance' is not an event.

Variance is a measure (not an event)
Variance is a measure of how far a set of numbers are spread out from one another.
    Low variance=tight spread
    High variance=wide spread

    You get the gist.

A King's coronation is an event
Variance is a measure, not an event.

    Listen, I'm digressing.
This is an open thread for baseball, my selections, and other's imput.
I don't want it to get hijacked with idiotic crap.

Check me out later for tonight's games.
I need to tend to the real life business that keeps the mortgage paid and the food on the table.

How long do you think this stupid extra-inning man on second rule will stay in effect?
Do you think it depends on the big market teams opinion (meaning they see a positive/negative result in the short term)?
My opinion is its like college OT in FB without the QB (pitching) restrictions..
    Ruins the game..

    Wow

    Kluber got ha-ha-ha-hammered.

    TBR up 9-4
And I talked myself out of that play.
It was -128 for a reason after all.

    Re: Indians
Pleasac I really like tonight but the Tribe is -185 pass
Now the total, it should go under.
I'm not betting it, but if I were under would be the way to go.

I'm not betting game props until after all the regular rotation guys have made 3 consecutive starts.
I saw two interesting Pleasac props though.
Over 5.5 K's and under 3.5 earned runs.
If they both hit, and they look good to me, then the under would be the bet.
Unless the Indians sticks go nutty and push across 7 runs by themselves.

I can't fade the Reds bats at the moment on the under 9.
    Pass

    Hope that helps.

Don't get used to me calling no hitters though.

    OK
SD run line covers as Musgrove tosses me a no-no

    YTD 7-1 (+6.91*)

p.s. don't expect me to continue at an 88 percent rate either.
That ain't happening too, but I'll keep trying.

    15 games today. Full slate.
    7 day games
    8 night games.

First the seven day games, night games to follow.

    Marlins at Mets
    deGrom -260
    YIKES

I want no part of this.
deGrom could pitch a two hit masterpiece and the Mets offense will do what they always do for Jake. Nothing.
    Under or pass
    Pass

    NY Yankees at Tampa
    German v. Archer

    Interesting matchup
When both pitchers are dealing they can both be unhittable.
    -116 NYY is razor sharp.
Like the under 9.5 here. A lot.

    Royals at White Sox

    I'm seeing PPD
    Is that right?
    Some sites say PPD
    Others don't
    I need to verify

    Brewers and Cards
    Pick 'em

Game is a pick because it is a pick.
    Pass

    Rox and Giants

    SF is doing good things
Just can't bet them at -178 (yet)
    Pass

    Oakland at Houston
Oakland is a +136 road dog and might be worth a play.
Montas was money for me in 2019, he did get rocked his first start last week.

I'll get back to this one.

Oh, the KC game is indeed a washout
That's OK, my Royals could use a day off even though I kinda liked Minor.

NY Yankees / Tampa Bay Rays UNDER 9.5 -113

My first total wager of the year.
My previous eight plays have all been sides.

I'm putting my pitching theory to the test here.
I really think Archer can slow down the NY Yanks sticks and conversely I don't think much of the TBR bats.
German has nasty stuff, a five cent brain but nasty stuff.
The total is juiced a nickel but I don't mind.

    UNDER 9.5 NYY/TBR

    Mets don't score for him.

    Logic points to under.

And Jazzy Chisholm of all people takes Jake deep for a solo shot.
Watch, that's the only fart deGrom cuts for the rest of the game and the final ends up 1-0.
So typical of a Mets/deGrom start.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Jake comes into the dugout one day with an AK and just wipes out the whole team.
Poor guy, he could be 22 and 4 every season with any kind of run support.

Hit the under 9.5 of the Yankees/Rays game as the Yanks bats took the day off.

    YTD 8-1 (+7.91*)

I like the Cubs on the run line tonight versus Pittsburg.
Davies starts for Chicago is the better starter than Mitch Keller the Pirates starter.
Cubs line up much deeper as well.

Cubs are -148, I don't lay that kind of juice on the road.
Run line is +107, on it!
If the Cubs win by one, oh well that's the price you pay for run line betting but Chicago should roll in this spot and I like that they get a guaranteed ninth inning at bat.

Cubs +107 run line is my night play.

As usual best of luck fellas.
