Rumors that the Senate will nix any furthur stimulus until the election might not bode well for the markets this month.

Stimulus and thoughts of stimulus have been a very big driver of the markets.

Trump and GOP Senate have already agreed to send stimulus checks.
It's Pelosi holding that off because she wants Trillions in other stuff.
Like bailing out all the bankrupt Democrat states.
She also doesn't want the checks sent because that would help Trump.
How long can she hold off is t.b.d.

    Unfortunatyely it's not that simple.

And a dozen senate republicans won't vote for ANY stimulus.

Last weeks unemployment report was too positive, making any stimulus any time soon highly unlikely.

They agreed to keep the gov't from shutting down, I don't think there are plans to agree on anything else...lol.

Let's see what they talk about this week when they meet, but stimulus for business (and checks for some Americans) is definitely on hold for now, possibly until after the election.

Any more positive economic news will derail that as well.

This will show in the markets.

I have always held that in order for the stimulus to pass, the stock market will need to weigh in with a pullback. Another day or 2 of the pullback like we had last Thursday will scare the shyt out of the republican politicians. They agreed to get together with the dems to kick the can down the road until after the election with the budget, real pussies on both side there. No leverage at this point with either side so nothing will happen. When the market takes a dive albeit only down to the 50 DMA, that will shake things up a little, and probably make the republicans a little nervous. I hope they don't cave and accept the democratic bailout of the mis-managed states and illegal aliens that happen to find themselves trapped by their own decisions. Chupracabra on the other hand is making a big bet for the election and to get her to move out of that spot is going to be tough. She runs a tight ship over there in the democratic party and all of her socialist leaders are all in line with the playbook. To get her side moving will probably take some crappy poll numbers due to the civil unrest they fomented for the last few months and the realization that BLM is really a Marxist terrorist group, that would then be a bad look to have backed them so ferociously. The democratic bet that Americans are so stupid that they can literally go against the rule of law and decide to ignore the almost peaceful protest for so long will have a kickback effect. Even the dumb people smarten up after a while. Unless of course your black for some reason. They are the one group that can be taken for granted year after year and can be counted on for voting against their own interest for the last 50 years running. That is an incredible record of unwokedness. Meanwhile Biden on the other hand can sit this out as he has been for the last 6 months but he won't because he can assuredly fuk up anything he is involved with and that includes his own campaign.

As stupid as this year has been with everything coming out so far will only get dumber. Buckle up the next 2 months are going to be a ride and a half.

The cares act sent by congress has been on mitch’s desk for 3 months. The gop refuses to fund cities and states. Repubs Are doing as far as a stunt. Sort of like giving a candy bar to a person whom hasn’t eaten for days. Please leave the political bullshit for another thread. This thread is about making money not about political bullshit!

Stock market still right at pre-pandemic highs. Needs another 10% haircut at least. Will put up quite a fight around that 3000 level again.

Trump is on record vocally calling for second stimulus checks (for the non-wealthy)

Only the Democrats are stopping it. Pelosi won't let it happen. She knows it helps Trump re-election.

I wouldn't expect the broad selling (although tech is going to be weak for a long time) to continue much longer
because the Fed is Trump's Fed, they will ramp this market soon again even without a stimulus.

politics can be and IS certainly right now part of the stock market. I'm not ignorant.

I'm not making a political point. This is about trying to figure the stimulus issue
which is what the market is all roiled about.

Honestly, Trump would send everyone a check for a million dollars a week before the election if he could - what does he care. All he cares about is being elected. Doesn't care about the deficit or whatever else. Republicans writ large are another story. And the dems are going to hold firm, believing that they will take over in a number of months so why should they give in now.

a trillion dollars to Democrat cities and states
is what was in that bill, plus checks for non-citizens.
Feds are not responsible for bailling out cities and state governments.

Futures falling again. I guess if the market ca go up for like 10-15 days straight, it could fall for 10-15 days straight too.

S&P sitting right at the 50 day moving averages. Hasn't broken that support since it crossed in early April. It held twice during the June corrections.

She retired from post office 3 years ago as did her husband. Now she has 0 blood and walked in marathons since she was 30. Now she has to take oxygen with her. Just because it hasn't hit anyone you know don't make it fake. Maybe you don't know but odds are against you being bit by a snake if you live in the city!
