What's up Rudy! Good to see you. Glad you chimed in! lol Yeah... I renegotiated with them... very hard to budge this time... I had that amazing blockbuster deal last year... hard to even come close to that... this is what I did to save a buck. Keep in mind... yes... there are some deals out there... but you need to hit the right "Loyalty Department" call person that hasn't given out all of their deals yet. Very hard to find. With Covid-19 back in May June... DirecTV was giving out a lot of discounts... people were disconnecting everywhere.. I heard one of the deals was $30.00 off for 6 months. Not bad... but... AT&T/DirecTV has been really strict lately. It kind of sucks... here's the deal I got... and I had to sort of create... extra deals... I'll explain.
1. Dialed 619-752-1401 first and spoke to someone who could hardly speak English. This is a loyalty number for DirecTV. Cut the story short she said sorry sir you don't qualify for any promotions. I said well I guess I will just think this through... thank you.
2. Dialed 619-752-1401 again and got some call center in Arizona. I said is their anything you can do to save me money? I don't want to decrease my package. I like my Entertainment package... I'm good with the programming. He said... nothing is generating on your account for any offers. But I can get you Sunday Ticket For Free. I said honestly... I don't want Sunday Ticket For Free.. I really need something knocked off my bill. He said... I understand.. currently my manager is out of his office... let me text him. (I said to myself... WTF? You need to text your manager while I'm on the phone? So odd.) He said hold the line for a few minutes. I said no problem. He got back on the phone and said... my manager will generate a code on your account... and it will be something like $35.00 or $40.00 off your bill for 12 months. But I will call you back to confirm this when my manager gets back to the office. I said thank you... and hung up.
3. I was out and about that day... (this happened last Monday by the way.) Got a voicemail from that guy... he said... happy to tell you my boss generated a $50.00 off for 12 months on your bill. You currently have Entertainment (all included) at $104.00 a month. So that drops your bill to $54.00 a month. We already applied this offer to you account... have a nice day. (Well... I wanted it lower... I want it at around $44.00 a month for 12 months. That was my goal.)
4. I dialed a different number about 4 hours later. 877-999-1083 (Another DirecTV Loyalty Number). In my opinion... I would dial this number first before any other numbers. I just feel this number gives you the best offers this year. A lady answered and said... how may I help you? I said well... I'm looking to save money off of my bill. She said but sir a $50.00 off a month for 12 months was already generated. (I acted surprise like I didn't know lol) Oh... the call got disconnected... and I didn't know that was applied? Sorry about that. I said could you throw in something like Sunday Ticket For Free? Or HBO Free for 3 months? She said... yes I will throw in Sunday Ticket MAX for Free. There isn't any promo's for HBO for free... but what I can do is activate HBO Max and give you a one time credit of $45.00 does that sound good? I said... yes... go ahead. I'm thinking to myself... well... I don't even need the HBO... she will activate it.... give me the $45.00 credit... I'll call back and turn it off. She ended up giving me a one time credit of $60.00 instead of $45.00 Bonus!
5. Waited for everything to be applied to the account. Dialed the regular DirecTV number 800-531-5000 asked for the Retention Department... just tell the computer system you want to cancel your service to get to that department... So I said... yeah.. I'm sorry I misunderstood the lady who added HBO on my account.. I really didn't want it. She said no problem sir.. I will cancel it. She said the HBO will fall off during your next billing cycle. I said... wait... you can't deactivate it immediately? She said no sir... we can only set the system to allow it to fall off next cycle. I said when did you start doing that? Because they never did that before... usually it's instantly. She said... I've been working here for 2 years and this has always been the protocol. I said oh wow. (Kind of screws up my savings plan.) She said as a courtesy I can give you an instant $20.00 credit. I said ok.. that's fine. Well what happened is... she accidentally gave me 2 credits for $20.00 ($40.00) total... and... as I thought HBO Max was disconnected immediately. So I saved instantly... so here's exactly what I saved....
$104.00 Entertainment (ALL Included) - I don't pay a receiver fee. It's all in one pricing. (Grandfathered over)
-$50.00 Credit Each Month For 12 months (-$600.00)
$54.00 Monthly bill.
$60.00 credit
$20.00 credit
$20.00 credit
$100.00 total credit. Divide that into 12 months $8.33 monthly credit
Reduces bill to $45.67 Entertainment Package out the door.
I guess I can live with that. lol Yeah... it was a pain in the ass calling that entire Monday... but... I'm set for the year. I hope things work out for you Rudy! Good luck in poker!
