Death rate for people under 65 with COVID is 0.006%.

At least in Alberta where we have extensive testing. Average age of death is 83.

Makes you wonder why we ruined our economy for a bad flu.

Even the majority of the 0.006% is composed of people with life long heart or lung problems, are 400 lbs or have multiple other illnesses.

This is for Alberta in Canada. This is an actual stat as almost everyone who has died has been over 65 and in care homes here.

Wow. Go Alberta! With a population 4.3 million, 20% of whom are over 65 – scraping off the aged is certainly the way to go. They should immediately forget those pansy-ass “phases” and reopen completely, and kill off the rest of those old fuckers. And given that the young and healthy, once infected, will in turn infect 2.5 to 3.5 persons of all ages, Alberta can look forward to the day when the aged finally die the way they should – a lot faster - leaving the 3.4 million left alive to party hardy.

PS. The current rate at which the Covid 19 infected die in the U.S. is 5.8%

Little embarrassed to say say I can't remember my digits.

    Is that 6 thousandth's of 1 percent?

Thinking some governors (drunk with power) have over-reached.

Scores of citizens have, IMHO, had enough and are returning to normal despite the hypocritical warnings of those at MSNBC.

Can't keep Middle-America (the backbone of this country) down for long. They (we) have went through the safety precautions and, as a side note, hold China responsible.

    Alberta?
That economy was basically ruined by Russia and the Saudis flooding the market with unlimited cheap oil, having nothing to do with covid-19 lockdowns. The price of a barrel opened 2020 around $61 then plunged to below $20. Heavy oil has much higher production costs, so Albertans are in BIGTIME trouble just from that alone!
And that remains true even if the Keystone Pipeline goes ahead.

Plus tourism/hotels industry in Alberta would take a huge hit even if everything remained "open" because the neighbors closed the borders and flights full of tourists were/are/will be non-existant and likely to remain that way until next spring at the earliest. Not to mention the famous Calgary Stampede would have either closed anyway, or at best, still lost very significant revenues from miniscule tourism.

But at least Canada's "democratic-socialism" and free health care seems to provide residents a fairly decent safety net.
    Hope you're ok.

definitely should have sacrificed the lives of 20% of the population over the age of 65. i think most people here would have risked their lives or the lives of their parent or grandparent for the economy. its a no-brainer.

Don’t feel too bad. Even the Red Herd math whiz who started this thread, predictably, got it wrong. Alberta, with a population of 4.3 million and 141 Covid 19 dead, the per capita death percentage comes to .0033%. Even their death rate at 2% of those infected is pretty small. Coming in under even S. Korea 2.4%. Of course, the fact that all Albertans have medical coverage plays a part in their huge recovery rate of 88.2%, whereas U.S. recoveries stand at 24.2%, making it just a teeny, tiny, bit riskier. But – what the hell – if “scores of people” have “had enough”, who can argue with them. FAUX News tells them – “go for it”, inject with Hydroxychloroquine or Clorox and get this economy moving again. The hell with those over-65ers, the rich aren’t getting richer in a closed economy, and killing off the old a little faster is a small price to pay – and we can always blame China.

Absolutely. Over-65ers are notoriously selfish, and a big burden to everyone. I mean, who'd miss them? - aside from their children, i suppose. Even being "pro-life" has its limits.

the real problem is kill a bunch of old people doesn't really solve the over population problem earth has. the virus needs to mutate to killing off more people in the procreation stage of life.

exactly, and your numbers are correct if applied to the overall number of americans in the under sixty five age category, looking not so much at the death rate of the disease among those who have contracted it, but rather the total mortality rate as it concerns the entire population of an area.

overall mortality rate to the us is 100k or deaths divided by 337,000,000 americans.....

take the under 65 death total (a small fraction of the 100k) and divide it by the number of americans under 65, and that number is tiny, along the lines that you cite......

h1n1 was worse worldwide; this reaction has been a fukkin' joke/hoax....... we never should have shut down shit for this damn virus. proof of this is growing by the day as we reopen with more virus cases around and still will have little impact on our overall population......

How can a site full of gambling degenerates have such a lack of understanding of statistics? It is almost as if math wasn't part of the class study.

It never fails to amaze, the degree of stupidity the Red Herd displays over and over again. The moron who began this thread was referring to Alberta, not the U.S. and the “tiny” number you cherish (based on current deaths/total population) was even smaller in January, February, March and April – even a couple days ago - you brain-dead doofus. In fact, in the U.S., since March it has grown 300% – and it will continue to increase as time goes on. In case it isn't obvious, that statistic means next to nothing until Covid 19 has run its course – in another 18 months! The WHO has projected that ultimate percentage of death at 3.5%, the Chinese and Johns Hopkins peg it at 2.2%, while the Imperial College uses 1.9% - assuming, of course, that most of the world doesn’t follow Sweden’s example – or Florida’s and Georgia’s – by re-laying the welcome mat and inviting the Coronavirus for a relaunch.

Do you know what 1.9% of the American population dead will be? Can you perform the simplest math? And how the hell can you know that any previous “h1n1” virus – was “worse” than Covid 19? Because it hasn’t yet killed more than 6 million is the U.S. yet? The novel Coronavirus is not friggin seasonal, you Red Herd dimwit – and without a vaccine or cure it will just keep rolling on – and getting worse because of your orange blimp and braindead puppets like yourself.

Yeah and will be better for them in the long run for us to build immunities to it. The left doesn't do deductive reasoning well.

Most of the over 65-ers tend to vote republican, but after they die from COVID-19 they'll end up voting democrat.
