Teacher’s aide allegedly sexted special-needs student in Florida

A teacher’s aide in Florida has been arrested for sexting a 16-year-old special-needs student, sending him explicit photos and videos on Instagram, police said.
Lindsey Noele Thorson, 27, was busted Friday after a parent of another student at Fieldston Preparatory School contacted authorities about the accusations, according to police records cited by Florida Today.
The sexually charged photos and videos were initially reported to employees at the private, K-12 school in mid-January, but an investigation wasn’t launched until a parent of the student’s friend got in touch with cops, the newspaper reports.
The school’s principal, Cindy Colletti, “appeared to dismiss” the accusations during interviews with police detectives, according to Titusville Police Department investigative reports.
“This case provides an important reminder that school officials, by law, are mandatory reporters of suspected abuse, regardless of whether they believe the allegations or not,” Detective Jessica Cabrera wrote the newspaper in a statement.
Thorson, of Titusville, surrendered to authorities after a warrant was issued for her arrest on charges of transmission of material to minors and tampering with evidence, WESH reports.
“You ever show anyone these I will fight you lol,” Thorson wrote the teen after sending him nude pics, according to court documents cited by the station.
In another text in October, Thorson told the boy, “Ima get myself fired,” court documents show.
She was right.
Thorson has since been fired from the school, Colletti told The Post on Tuesday in a statement. A student alleged that he had explicit images of Thorson in January, leading to a police probe, she said.
“We provided our full cooperation during the investigation,” Colletti’s statement read. “It is our understanding that the police have concluded their investigation.”
Thorson has been released from the Brevard County Jail after posting $4,000 bail, records show.
