    Crazy. Men and their egos

How many times have we seen a coach take a position with another club that begins after a major tournament. Its all about a damaged ego by Rubiales , the president of Spain's soccer Federation. Who wouldnt want the Real Madrid job next season.

    Not worried , just realistic.

I turn 58 this year. Lost my best friend to cancer ( he was 45 at the time ). Lost my sister to cancer ( she was 52 at the time ). Life is beautiful and i treasure my days on this planet , but life is truly random.

Perhaps i should have said something like " God Willing " or " If i continue to have my health "

Really stupid move by Rubiales, because if Spain do poorly they're gonna blame him

Hierro has been hired as interim coach. He has very little managing experience

How much of an impact does a coach in soccer really have on a team?

Aside from the occasional sub here or there that make a difference it seems more like a baseball manager than an nfl head coach.

Brilliant coaches like klopp harvest a certain playing style and then let the players figure it out from there

It's not like teams have organized plays such as football. Even the set pieces seem casual like an nba inbounds play where everyone is set but completely random once the ball is in play

I dont see the new coach Hierro walking into the dressing room 24 hours before their opening game and saying " Okay fellas , this is my new formation and strategy vs Portugal ". Youre bang on with the Klopp example imo. Still , he has to decide who will start and has very little background info on Portugal and how to best approach that game. Only so many hours available to watch video before kickoff. The line has already backed up .18 points since the news of the firing hit.
I would love to get out of my bet on Spain Friday if i could. Maybe youre right and the players just pick up where they left off and continue to play great Football. Hope so anyway

If this was 2010 Spain I think we'd all assume that their system or style of play wouldn't be affected much by the coaching change with that ball possession dominant quick passing triangle attack.

They've since been in a strange transition not rly going forward or backwards but sideways. Kinda like how corporate makes everyone switch departments every few yrs

Don't think Spain's coach change will have an impact on the team. Spain has played the same possession style for as long as I can remember, not a chance they mix things up before their biggest game of the tournament. If anything, they will reinforce their normal tactics more than usual because of the coach change.

Yup, so much for beating the closing lines. Garbage took out the bigger garbage. Thought of hedging but didn't bother cause my Saudi bet was small.

Still not impressed with Russia though. Notice the dropping odds for Uruguay vs. Saudi and Egypt vs. Russia during the opening game and straight after.

    Group A :

    1. Uruguay
    2. Russia
    3. Saudi Arabia
    4. Egypt

Heading into this tournament the only team in Group A that shows any real promise is Uruguay. Egypt were thrown a major set back when star player Mo Salah went down with an injured shoulder. Russia have only 1 win in their past 10 and show a real lack of scoring ability. The opening game with Saudi Arabia may prove to be the game to decide who will advance behind Group winner Uruguay. As obvious as Uruguay is to win the Group , there is very little value in backing that wager at such a high premium imo.

    Wagers:

    Thursday June 14 :

    Saudi Arabia +1 @ 2.15 ( 1 unit )

    Friday June 15:

    Uruguay -1 @ 2.21 ( 2 units )
    Adding: Group A

Fri June 15 : Morocco vs Iran : 11am est

    Morocco @ 2.29 ( 2 units )

Russia pressed Saudi up the pitch and created turnover after turnover. I am not sold on Russia yet, but it was a huge start for them on home soil.
