I see all of the "bogus" charities are starting to surface

It doesnt take long for the charities to surface and fleece the Americans of their paychecks!

After Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike in Texas, all of the charities were asking for donations to go "directly" to the victims. Well I can tell you that I know NO ONE who received anything from those charities

I dont know about you guys, but Obama is killing me and my family. No funds to send out at all

most charities are bogus esp the big one's red cross etc, they hold onto the money and determine when they feel like it -who what and where the money goes. of all the money given to haiti and the rest of those places, hasnt been used for the purpose it was given for. it turns my shit watery just thinking about it

i just wish for the day i hit the lottery so i could make a direct difference

Even in some of the legitimate charities, only a small percentage of the dollar goes to the cause itself.

you have to do the research of course.
i think one of bono's major charities donated only something like 3% of their contributions.

I would never send money to charities. I don't care how prestigious they may be. You just never know if anyone gets the money other than the charity itself.

Its pretty disgusting that people try to scam from people who just went through a major natural disaster.

Hopefully the people who need help get it. And hopefully they can take control of that reactor.... a meltdown is the last thing they need to deal with now

Be careful with that... QE2 and the upcoming QE3 are just inflating the stock market without any real substance. We're gonna get a nice crash from that. Just something to plan for.

The director of the Red Cross is a woman and her salary is $2 million per year!

I do think that the Red Cross is a legit charity HOWEVER only 35% of all contributions go out from what I have read. The rest is for administrative cost

You can't trust any of the charitys that just spring up after a disaster. Got to stick to the ones that have been around for a long time. And even with those you'd be lucky if 35% of your money actually went to the actual cause.

Most charities funds are misappropriated. That's a fact.

Valid points but if you do wish to contribute to any charity you should always do some research first.

    A quick look at: http://www.charitynavigator.org/

or: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/chrts-gvng/.../menu-eng.html for Canadians will let you know if a charity is legit or not.

Give stuff, Not cash. Charities will just misappropriate the cash. At least if you give stuff, it will actually have a chance of getting to someone that needs it.
