We should have many more Beta exchange contests.

I like them if Rebate Wager is able and willing I will defiantly be a customer when the exchange opens.

can I ask a silly question....whats so bad about bots...'someone' who is going to play the same way everytime because that's what they are programmed to do. Yeah the will eat the fish, but if you see them, they are easy to beat once you find them.

    As it stands, not much.
Once there are bots that are able to collude though, it would be a different story.

Also fwiw bots don't play the same way all the time. They can be and are set up to bluff and/or slow play in a given spot x% of the time .

Yeah, bots don't make it any easier.

If anything, they're less predictable, when programmed correctly. With a human you have a better chance of guessing.

I used to run a bot in limit holdem back around 2004. As a player it did ok on small limits (.25/.50), close to break even. Was great for clearing bonuses.

You are wrong. If someone can run one bot, what would stop someone from running hundreds of bots 24/7. If these bots are profitable (some are), then that profit is going to someone who is essentially cheating. Bots are more likely to profit from bad players and that is bad for almost everyone except the person running the bot.

Once there are bots that are able to collude though, it would be a different story.
I saw ads for colluding bots (share hole cards over a network) over five years ago. I think it's safe to say that it is happening already.

I still don't know what sets these bots apart for all of the other auto-playing people. I have watched some of the identified bots on Bodog (e.g. Tabassco Tim) and I don't see what is so expoitable nor verifiable that they are bots.

Also, from my reading on the bots from Shanky, they seem to be very flexible and ever changing.

What are the characteristics/patterns that have been seen to indentify them?

Lastly, how is Pokerstars and Fulltilt able to identify the bots whereas Bodog et al doesn't seem to be able to?

Only that each one would need a separate account, I suppose.

You could be right. I have to admit that I don't play onlike poker these days, aside from the occasional MTT. The relatively easy pickings dried up two or three years ago from my perspective.

    i've botted before using shanky.

they are profitable if you can run 6 tables 24/7 with a table hopper and don't get caught. the bot script i used (and re-wrote parts of) were +EV on low limits. 6 man, 5c and 10c NL cash tables. most people really struggled to get a +EV bot for anything higher than that.

preferably, you should be running 2 accounts (or as many as you can get going on as many machines as you can get going) for 12 hours each... the problem with bots is that they can only win at v. low limits.

it was good for clearing the bonuses, which were pretty good where i was playing, but after that the rakeback and actual profits were pretty shit at the limits the bot could beat. I then moved out of my parents and had some issues with the software and ultimately gave up.

it was definately a profitable exercise though.

Beerdog: its not so much a style of play. its a timing thing mainly from what I understand i.e. not taking breaks, extra long sessions, toilet breaks on the hour for 3 minutes exactly etc. they also rely a lot on other users reports.

Fulltilt also update their software every few days, so the bot won't work (or at least so it will only work for 1 table). this didn't use to be a problem as egor (the creator) could patch it pretty quickly. at some point, fulltilt started banning botters and confiscating their monies, so they stopped using it. I think bodog probably just prefers to have the rake, rather than banning anyone the more full time players, the more rake for them.

muldoon: I don't believe you had a breakeven bot on .50NL. The rakeback would be huge if you could run that all day. Its not something I would have given up if it wasn't

Ive been called a bot on Full Tilt and Poker Stars. Ive had to turn in documentation for both sites because I can turn profits at 24 table sessions consistently.

And I am one of them Analytical players that observes everything.

But Ive also been playing online since I was 12 before the poker boom hit

WTF is this email from Fulll Tilt?

Your 'Quick Deposit' transaction outlined below was successfully added to your Full Tilt Poker account.

However due to third party processor issues there has been a delay in debiting your bank account for this transaction.

Watch your accounts and emails how the hell are they just getting to Jan deposits?
