    8 years old

In your opinion is an 8 year old girl old enough to be left completely alone and unsupervised overnight? Nobody will be in the house but her.

It depends, does she drink or not? Will she be cooking? When I was a kid I was fine, but that was like 25 years ago..

I agree with Jerm. 13 or 14 is about right.

So it's safe to say this should be common sense. Especially for her mother. Thanks for the quick replies.

Absolutely not. I agree 13 or 14 is generally about the right age for home alone.

My son is 8. He knows who to call in case of a emergency. With that being said, I will still not leave him alone. I think it is legal at age 11 or 12? Not to sure though.

If your 8 year old daughters mother wanted to leave this child alone overnight, you should tell that dumbass to pack her shit and get out. The kid will have no chance with an idiot like that raising her.

    No

    14?????????

How about at least fukkin 18, anyone leaving a kid home alone under 18 is a horrific parent and does not care about their kids

There is no set legal age. That said, if something happened to the child, and it was determined that this child was not capable to provide for its own basic care, the state will have custody in mere moments.

Seriously? If you have to ask this question...you're not fit to parent.

    Is this a joke?

An 8 year old child should never be left unsupervised.. regardless if girl or boy.

In the long run it will better that you introduce her to the wife rather than having your wife find out about her on her own. Take her with you.

Anything that happens to an 8 y/o parent is responsible for. Child neglect and abandonment come to mind

I don't have any kids, someone I know was contemplating doing this and I about lost it when I found out last night. Just was looking for some affirmation that I had every right to call her on it. Fortunately, her mom made the right choice as far as I know.
