Best Dog Breed for Family Dog?

I have had a number of different breeds of dogs. I have always been partial to larger dogs (Shepards, huskys, Retreivers). What breed of dog do you think makes the best house dog? Temperment, loyality, calmness, lack of shedding, etc.

Thinking of maybe one more pass with a new friend... Recommendations welcome...

Agree. Shedding is bad and you need to run them constantly to tire them out. Otherwise, the most loving, and best looking, family dog available.

Black lab or Golden retriever. Great with kids but both have shedding problems. Great family dogs though.

actually of all the bully breeds ab's are on the cheaper side. That being said a good breeder can charge close to a grand and sometimes more. But there are lots of good breeders selling them for 400 or so... Definitely do research and you can get find some quality breeders giving good deals

I agree with a Lab or Golden.....
    Can't go wrong if you're
    okay with daily exercise
and a little hair to harvest.

Amazing that just about every post in this thread recommends a different breed. lol

Boston Terriers are good family dogs and have a sweet disposition. Some shedding, but short hair.

Get a pure bred English Staffordshire Bull Terriers with papers. Had two, the girl passed recently, and they are the best dogs. Affectionate, personality plus, tough, loyal, highly intelligent, playful and low maintenance.

Do not get a American bull terrrier or pit bull.
