Don't look now but September is almost here and all commodities that got whooped on the past month or so should make a comeback.

Vote for Obama if you want, but just understand that the government doesnt lower gas prices and you need more than "He'll change things" as a reason to vote for someone.

Four more years of a republican president will send this country straight into hell. Of course after 8 years of bush, we're already living in hell. Gas prices, unemployment, housing market, the war. Bush is a disgrace to this country and Obama deserves a chance to be president. Four more years of McCain is four more years of Bush.

Just remember that it was Bush's policies that resulted in record gas prices.

    1. Purchased all the oil from private refinaries back in 2001 which doubled the price of barrel of oil overnight.

    2. Invaded Iraq (#2 oil producing country)

    3. Refused to sign mandate to raise 1MPG which Would've saved millions of barrels of oil.

    4. Handed out $100,000 tax breaks to business owners purchasing Hummers and other gas guzzling SUVs.

    5. Refused to fund alternate fuel vehicles currently available instead choosing fuelcell vehicles which won't be viable for years.

It can get worse with McCain. He wants to rid the US of gambling (except craps cause he's a compulsive degenerate gambler at it) and horse racing (because the horse racing industry fund him the gambling money to lose at craps).

He also wants to escalate fighting in Iraq (Vietnam, anyone?).

personally i think bush has fcked up the country in a lot of ways. ie growing the size of government, out of control government spending, using terrorism to pursue global agendas, etc

HOWEVER, you raging liberals give him way too much credit. All of his shortcomings fall on government as a whole. Dems and Reps alike.

Oil and other commodities price mainly goes up because of inflated currency. How does the currency get inflated? government overspending, overtaxing, borrowing, printing more bills.

read this article on "The Real Price of Oil"

    also research Fiat Money

    losturmarbles,

Interesting article albeit flawed. As the comments below the article points out, the value of gold has risen to record levels also.

OPEC does use the USD as their currency of choice so the rise in oil prices can be partially blamed on the devaluation of it as it costs them more to buy equipment etc. But when u are wasting trillions on a war the currency will devalue exponentially.

This is an example is disingenuous liberal logic. If you measure the war as a percentage of GDP, Iraq is actually the least expensive war we have ever fought. If you use that formula and look at the remainder of how our money is spent, government handouts and interest paid to our lenders on the national debt make up the three largest expenditures. Obama's speending plans are about 25% higher than McCains both plan to add astonishing government services with no real idea of how to pay for them. We will have more debt and more interest. In ~3 years we will be paying more in interest than any other expenditure. Both candidates are taking us towards fiscal failure, Obama's plan just gets us there slightly faster.

Bob Barr and Ron Paul actually are the only ones that won't drive the titanic into the iceberg willingly.

Bob Barr says he wont, but in three years he'll probably change his mind, just like he has on every other issue.

Way to double talk like a typical neo-con.

The fact of the matter is, War in Iraq is the second costliest war in US history only behind WWII. It has already surpassed the cost of WWI, Korean War and Vietnam COMBINED!!!!!! Not including $100Billion lost thanks to Bush ignoring 9-11 warnings for 8 months. Not to mention the billions it'll cost to replace all the damaged and destroyed arsenal and the billions it'll cost to take care of the injured soldiers for the rest of their lives.

Actually funding for education, social services, health care and even national security has been slashed dramatically as Bush searches for more funds to pay for his war.

Even when I point out the fallacy of your argument comparison of dollars without consideration for its loss in value you still stick to your delusion. This is traditional liberal thinking.

Education sucks - throw money at it - still sucks - throw more money at it - sucks even yet - must need more money

    One day reality will strike.

The only fallacy is a neo-con trying to minimize the impact of an very expensive war (second in costs to only WWII) on the impact of our economy and the devaluing of our currency.

The fact of the matter is, if not for Bush's policies of ignoring catastrophic terrorist attacks and starting meaningless wars, oil prices would not be where they are.

Blaming government expenditure on social services is a typicial neocon nitwit ideology.
