Mind is blown away with new techs! Like Androids

    Gosh!
Would someone like to simplify this new world of cell phones that use "Martian" language I just cannot grasp or understand?I presently use a Samsung 3G.
I want to upgrade to a more modern phone, yet, I stay in a world of utter confusion trying to figure what is right for a senior citizen, one who has been known to gamble at international sportsbooks.

Not that I would need or use the phone or portable computer [?] for gambling, but would like to hear if it's a credible way to post wagers, or, worthwhile for the airtime it would take. Plus, the speed difference, if any?

I was looking at ad's for the Android, and wow, they are confusing. Android x, Android 2, etc.
Who is an expert on any of these types of devises?

Also, please explain [in detail] about the expenses involved,#1, like purchase price [ new or used], #2, monthly service and free airtime, or #3, any other vague expensive I could overlook?

Asking a lot! Who wants the challenge of tackling this electronic chore?

    Thanks a million!

What service provider do you currently use for your samsung 3G.. If I knew that I would be able to help out.

Btw I use my android to place bets on bookmaker mobile flawlessly.

All these new phones are basically mini laptops. I have a blackberry torch and can place bets to betjam or the greek at the dinner table in seconds.

Yeah you don't need a iPad. I have one. I use my android more.

Look into the HTC Aria it's for AT&T and it has everything you would ever need.

bookmaker mobile is just them giving you a different site then the full site for placing bets i use diamondbook as one of my books and their mobile site makes it really easy to bet on it.

I would think you would have plenty of trouble reading that small screen? Wouldn't you have to scan much more to read all of the ball lines? And, that glare from light would really compound that viewing problem, right?

The Android has a screen size of only 4 to 5 inches, right? That's scary! Too me the Ipad would be much better for viewing and wagering faster with accuracy? Who knows the better product? Pricing and monthly fees for internet for each? How many free minutes available through weekdays? Also, would that phone internet combine with your home computer as ONE service charge per month?
    Thanks!

Another great thing about these phones is not having to use a scanner. When I signed up for the greek and betjam, all I did was take a picture of my license and a voided check, and email it to them with the phone.

Do you want a phone or a iPad. I have both.I can help u out.

If you can switch carriers go to SPRINT and get the HTC EVO 4G it has a big screen and is very simple to use.

I have a blackberry torch. The screen is small but the pinch feature works to perfection. If the book features a mobile version, it is very easy to see.

Okay, thanks for the info, but I am lost with all this sales bs and that "Martian language," again!
Simply put, internet costs $70 a month with sprint, right? Phone above costs 199 with rebate?

Trying to read a newspaper [ noticed they do not show any printing, only pictures] look's to be tough.
You must have a good high paying job if you are paying for two internet services and using those two phones. [ipad and htc evo] How much free air-time through the week?

Ipad cost is a few hundred, right? Also, the phone ad says htc evo "shift", is that a different type phone?

My ipad is wifi only. I Do not pay for a plan for it. I paid 550 with tax for the 16gb model.

Sprints plans include mobile to mobile calling to any phone on any carrier so you save a lot of minutes like that. Nights and weekends start earlier than other carriers. You basically only use up minutes when your calling a land line. But all mobile to mobile is free. And its unlimited data, text message, email everything.

The evo shift has a traditional keyboard to go along with the touch screen but it is smaller. Its the same phone with a smaller screen and traditional keyboard.

Don't even bother buying a iPad. With the evo you will be able to do more in with a smaller device and your phone will have everything u possibly need all in one package.

Also. Get the lowest possible internet plan. You will find that most places you go have wi-fi.

And if the place doesn't have wifi you can call sprint customer service activate the mobile hotspot feature for 20/ a month...and your phone could provide wifi signal to 8 devices.

Okay guys, thanks, but I have some really dumb questions.

    1. wifi, meaning you cannot use it while driving, or on the road?
    2. Sprint gives "free" airtime with mobile to mobile?
    3. Internet airtime and phone airtime are considered the same?
    4. Calling a book that has "mobile lines," you get free airtime?
    5. How much for the evo, $199?
    6. wifi is free airtime at home or any business that has it available? [if you pay the 20 a month]
    7. Activating 8 devices with wifi? You mean MY personal devices or ?
Anyone else want to ask a dumber question than those?

I will have to give some of my "fat points" away, guys. You both have earned them.

Wi-fi is run off a router. I use my neighbors (he has no clue). Many people, stores and businesses have wi-fi. This is free and doesn't count against your data plan usage. I'm not a sprint guy so I can't tell you about the evo.

    1 wifi is wireless Internet.
2 sprint has free airtime with mobile to mobile.
3 Internet air tine and phone airtime are not the same.
4 it should be free if its a 1800 number
5 199 with instant rebates from best buy or radio shack.
    6 I can't explain that well.
7 your phone will broadcast a wireless Internet signal for up to 8 computers in your area.
