Jump starter device used to trickle-charge car battery

I don't believe the device is made to stop once the recipient battery is fully charged, as to avoid damage, so anyone have an idea how long one can be left hooked up to a low or dead car battery? Thank you.

if its a trickle charge it can stay hooked up a long time, most do have a timer though.

Remember how long trickle down economics took???

After looking up "trickle charge," I think I'm using the term wrong in this case. This is the charger, which has nothing in the manual about trickle charging: http://www.reliablepowertools.com/vec010bd.htm
