go with the macbook pro, I bought one recently and it is worth the extra money over a pc. there is not much difference in the macbook and macbook pro. the macbook is plastic and pro is aluminum. the macbook doe's not have any scan disk readers though. the software bundle is the same in all macbooks, macbook pro and macbook air

If your into graphic design and BS stuff go with apple. If you need for actual work go with PC. Been working around it for 2 decades. You wont see Macs in the workplace.

If you want to overspend for less capabilities, go with a mac.

Otherwise, a PC is and will always be the way to go.

I got this a few months ago, and both the hardware and price are unbeatable. Best Buy usually has it for $1199 - the starting price of a Macbook, with multiple times the features.

yeah if you want your program to do some fancy shit when it opens get a Mac. but if you care about money and dont care what your computer phisically looks like a PC is def the better move. just get some free anti-virus stuff online and youll be fine. i got the AVG program and my computer runs as good as it did when i bought it over a year ago. i probly dont watch as much porn as you but i download a ton of music and watch every movie and tv show online and i havent gotten anything to slow me down yet.

with a MAC you get cool tv ads. and you might get a few people to look your way on campus but other than studios and graphic jobs you wont find hardly anyone doing real work on anything but a PC.

i think my PC cost like $400 with a 3 year warranty. it didnt come with a monitor but thats because i have it hooked up to my big screen. ( so i didnt want a monitor clearly )

    All Apple products are overpriced.
A Windows based laptop with decent specs is the way to go.

Macs basically don't get viruses and slow down. Pricewise they are about 2x or 3x more for the same thing tho.

Get a Macbook , no comparison... I have an Ipad, Macbook and Imac, you can't go wrong with apple. Macbook is the way to go. Might be a little more than the rest but the rest is junk.

Mac book pro - can run windows anyway so what the problem?

if u want something that lasts and goes as fast as it says that it will, never crashes get the mac. if u price sensitive get the windows and download fix, download and fix till u get enough dough to buy a mac.

Don't understand all the talk about PC's slowing down and getting viruses. As long as your virus program auto updates the dat files, you will be fine. I don't get viruses and the PC runs the same as it did when I got it. Just keep it optimized, and you will be fine.

Mac's are overpriced for the same PC specs. The only apple product I will probably own, would be a iPad.

Basically means it can still happen. Because of sales numbers it was never worth attacking them. They say it won't be long now. One website I was just on said they feel that once they get a 15% market share attacks will go up big time.

Macs are not perfect. Its the same with PC's. My wife was just telling me about a guy at work that had his Mac laptop that is less then a year old die. Turns out the hard drive crashed. He lost everything. All data, pictures, music and so on. The same thing can happen with a PC as well.

What you need to do is decided on a budget. After that you need to see if a Mac even fits in that budget. If it does then I would go to a few stores and try some PC's and Macs out to see what you like. See if you even like the feel of a Mac. For me, I can't stand a Mac. I liked the Apple IIs. They had the green text. LOL. After that nothing. I have tried more then a few, over the years (I have never owned one) and just don't like the feel at all.

I have owned about 5 computers, one being a laptop. I want a new desktop and 1 or 2 more laptops. They will all be PC's. You need to find out what works best for you.

Just don't buy one on that damn virus claim.

    James

Never go to Best Buy for a computer.

    Intel i7-740QM 1.73GHz Quad Core, 8GB RAM, 500GB 7200RPM HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB, DVD+/-R DL, 6 cell

Basically all the same stuff but the graphics card is a tiny bit worse, not gonna be noticeable really

Apple is for people trying to compensate for their lack of masculinity. In today's world when the Western legislation is totally emasculating, man are turned into consumerist whores trying to compensate for their lost manhood by buying things they think makes them look desirable and powerful to the women. Buying Apple is a pathetic cry for recognition and respect...most likely a $400 Toshiba will take care of all your computer needs.

The difference with a Mac is the operating system. It's true, the specs of the hardware don't match up with a PC in the same price range. OS X is a very stable, fast, and user-friendly operating system. Not everyone sees value in that, and that's fine.

if 2 or 3 hundo is not a lotta money 4 u then buy the MAC. the parts are made to work together not just thrown together from a bunch of different makers into a different motherboard, the OS is pure class. almost never ever crashes. lasts longer and less maintenance as most of what u need is included.

or buy something much cheap knowing it is only for a few years. something in between - not for me.
