Bronxer I think the Franziskaner is actually a bit better than the Hacker, so if you like that style check it out, it's not quite as heavy but has plenty of taste. And either way check out that Hoegaarden. Very under rated beer, and light.

Drink Icehouse my friend. It's strong... tastes good... and it's fairly cheap. No other beer on the planet combines these 3 things as well as Icehouse.

I think this should be the official beer discussion thread. I need a place to vent.

I just tried Sierra Nevada Celebration today. It was amazing stuff. I'm not an IPA type of guy, but this brew was delicious! This is definitely my gateway drug to IPAs. I need to find more.

Also, I tried a Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. I was curious since it was the top-rated wheat beer at Beer Advocate. Sadly to say, I still prefer Franziskaner and Sierra Nevada Kellerweis over it. It has a very nice, mild blend of banana and clove notes, but I'm not a clove guy at all. It's a really good beer, though.

Kellerwies and Boulevard are both great recommendations, will do a full review of these wheat beers once the season is right. I am not sure Bronxer can get Boulevard in Jersey though.

I liked the hacker a lot after I had two or three. Nice and strong. Going to try Hoegaarden next on tuesday or wednesday. Not an every day of the week drinker. Two-Three times a week.

I agree, the Franziskaner is better than the Hacker. Always get them on draft at the German restaurant in town. Great place. I will do a vid form there some time.

It is a different deal altogether, taste alone the Franziskaner is untouchable. I believe if memory serves me the Hacker is 5.5% and the Franz is 5% alcohol.

I knew you would like the Franziskaner. It's definitely the most tasty wheat beer I have ever had. I'm actually wanting to find something that will surpass it.

Anyway, I guess this will be my mini-blog entry in the thread. I went to BevMo today and picked up some beer.

    - Two 6-packs of Franziskaner (for GF's upcoming Christmas party)
    - Franziskaner Dunkel (new try)
    - Ridgeway Brewing Lump of Coal Dark Holiday Stout (new try)
    - Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale (new try)

I love Franziskaner hefe, so I bought the dark hefe to try. I got the stout and the Sumpin' ale because I want to try some more seasonal beers.

I tried an Ayinger Celebrator tonight. I would write a review, but I think Cougar's review and description were spot on, so I'll save myself some trouble. I would probably rate it a 7.0 on his scale, as I find it to be good tasting, but uninteresting brew. I wouldn't buy it again.
