I thought De Beers and some Russian diamond mines controlled 85% + of the raw diamonds in the world. Since the economy tanked I thought Russia basically started stock piling their diamonds. Debeers also cut back the supply they were putting out to keep the prices inflated. Sounds like scam and sh!tty investment to me. I understand buying one for your wife but to invest in them doesn't make any sense. IMO

Yes, diamonds are one of the biggest markups out there. De Beers controls the market and only allows so many diamonds out there at any given time. They certainly aren't rare like they're advertised to be.

It's great to buy the wife-to-be a nice ring, and she'll make some nice coin on it after you get divorced. Seriously though, buy what you can afford because an expensive ring isn't what getting married is all about anyway.

Oh I'm very sharp. I used the money to gamble and she thinks she has the biggest diamond in the world.
