I have a sales job here in St. Louis (regional). That is why I can't be on here as often as I wish. I wish I could do this for a living but I'm afraid that I would starve and I probably wouldn't live very long either due to the stress. Gambling is strictly supplemental income (or loss) for me.

I work for BellSouth I get my jobs in the morning and Usually Im done around 1pm (I get paid to 4pm) but Ive gotten so good at what I do that all my production numbers are in line. I keep up with the stock market, but nothing compares to having 200 bones on a half-time line and watching your kicker hit a 40 yd field goal as time expires to cover, nuff said!

Much Props to Tow and Dozier

I also want to give props to TOW and Dozier and all the fine SBR staff. I get wood when stuff gets posted about ESB. It sucks getting dooped but at least SBR keeps these dogs on a leash so they don't bite anyone else.

Self employed IT field, spends most of the time answering phone at home and taking care of my 6 months old daughter. But sometimes go out to client's premise to fix computer network problems.

Making $200-$300 a day from gambling is very satisfying to me. I try not to get greedy. I think of my day to day gambling as work. Biweekly I cashout and enjoy life with my daughter.

Reading that was quite an emotional roller-coaster. It was sounding fantastic - until those last 4 words.

Definitely. Also all computer maintenance and office supplies. I can also claim a portion of my rent, gas etc.

Also, because my business is broadly defined as Creative Enterprises - and gets into writing ventures, including song-writing - I can write off musical equipment such as my new stereo.

I suppose I made it sound that way but the truth is it's not shady. I sometimes feel like I'm being shady, but my accountant says that, if anything, I'm a big square for not trying to claim more things.

The comment about a cell phone is a good one though. I guess I'm a pretty big freak being in my 40's and never having had a cell phone.

    Mud,

Can you give us all tax help when it comes time? I want to write off some shit. I work at a potato chip plant. Can I write off all my snacks as research?

Also if yuo are one of those guys that claim taxes as a pro gamblers, can you write off office supplies and costs you incur in your office?

I would be glad to try and help as much as I can but my expertise doesn't go much beyond what I've already said in this thread.

Office supplies and equipment can definitely be claimed. Because I have a home office, a portion of rent can be claimed. Because I sometimes use my car for business-related errands, a portion of gas/maintenance can be claimed.

What portion? Beats me. Ask my accountant.

Also bear in mind I am in Canada so regulations may be different.

Personally I give a big thumbs up to claiming snacks as a research expense.

Man...Mudcat your life is my goal. You are the inspiration here for many of us.

Right now my goal is to finish up my degree, find a teaching job at a university where i can sit and do nothing (like most professors) and teach the same thing over year in year out where it becomes so automatic and I don't have to prepare and I can then work on sports investing year in, year out like u do!

Plus you can't beat the female seen here!

Yeah it's freaky. I'm not going to lie and say that life isn't good.

I worked unhappily for 20 years in a series of warehouse and office jobs, always sinking in debt.

Being self-employed and a bit comfortable now . . . you won't hear me complaining.
