    There is evidence for masks being effective.

    Jacare Souza tested positive for COVID at UFC 249.

    After he tested positive, there were video clips recorded of him wearing a mask and gloves while hanging out with and bro hugging Fabricio Werdum. It shows Werdum standing within 1 foot of Jacare who tested positive and Werdum never got COVID from that.

    Thanks to UFC COVID testing, there is a long list of athletes who tested positive for COVID who didn't infect anyone by wearing a mask (and gloves in some cases) AFAIK.

    On the opposite end, none of the democrats who fled texas to block voting reform wore a mask on the plane. And all of them got infected as far as I know.
