    Shopping for tires

Ran over nail last night. 4WD. Les Schwab said I need all 4 tires replaced. Quoted like $600 for their budget tire. Called Walmart and they said $350-400 installed depending which brand tire I go with.

Anyone go with a cheaper tire from walmart? I only drive about 5 or 6k miles a year. City and Highway, sometimes rain, mostly sunny weather. Wondering if its fine for my driving habits.

Depends on the tire. You have to do your research on the brands. It is like anything else, you can get a good deal on a brand that a major tire maker produces under another name or a Japanese tire. Find out what they have to offer and then figure out which is the best value for the money. You can probably get a pretty good price on a major brand.

Walmart Sells Continental tires. Very serviceable and a great tire for the price. More then adequate for the amount of miles you drive.

You do realize the guy might actually need new tires right?

Not worth $40 to patch a cheap tire that has less than 50% tread left. Not sure if anybody even still plugs tires, most shops have moved on to liquid patches and melting it into place

Yeah don’t mess with tires. Hydroplaned and Totaled my car once on highway in the rain after thinking a mechanic was just trying to get more money out of me when he recommended I need new tires. Thank god no other cars were around

LMAO - dudes driving luxury cars with bald tires is a classic broke dik move. Let me guess, no need to change the oil since its leaking a quart a month right?

    Nothing more important than tires.

for 200 bucks difference over 2 or 3 years, not worth even looking at the prices. Just buy the best ones you can find for the car.

Just heard tonight that tires (rubber) is expected to rise dramatically in the very near future, so whatever you decide, you better decide soon!

Saw this and went out and bought $20K of condoms. Hope to resell them for $40K once the prices go up.

    So what happened?

C'mon, it's OK to say it.

The Yokohama is such a great tire that they plugged it for $40 and life is good again.

Go ahead and say it. It's OK.

My tires ended up being a Dextero brand all season tire. 50k mile warranty. Just over $400 installed and that included an oil change. Good deal. If I get 25k miles out of them I will be happy. Thats 4 years of driving for me.
