    So seriously..

I got a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. No big deal but I did not want to court by myself it is always better to have a mouthpiece lawyer. The guy said $900 OK. It was from March of last year but with this coronaviris the court date kept changing the next date was Aug. 18 this year. Then I got a phone message saying I had to be in court this morning by 9:00. I just got up and I was like "what are you talking about?" He said just get here by 10:00 a.m. OK he did his mouthpiece thing and settled everything for a $60 fine. Then he said he wanted another $400. I did not have it and said let's find an ATM. He had something else to do and said I he knew I was good for it. I don't really know this guy, he helped me out with another case b4, and I paid him what he wanted there was no contract for anything. Should I tell him what to do with that $400?

You sound like the kind of guy that needs to keep a lawyer on retainer.

If he said $900, I would give him the run around until you need him again and then settle up. He is gouging. Stay out of trouble.

I'm just not up with that. Saying $900 to go to court agreed upon price. Then tellling me he needs $400 more was not agreed upon. It's not my fault the court date changed a few times so he had to do what? Adjust his calendar? Get his secretary to confirm with the court? Don't tell me that whatever you did made the price go from $900 to $1300 for a misdemeanor charge. Yes I know a lawyer doesn't go to court for free but save the bullshit for someone else.

That is what ambulance chasers do. They usually just outlast the cops on the changed court dates for DUIs and get stuff dismissed.

Lawyers try to milk a person out of all they can. Did he do anything to earn the other $400? Probably not. I think it's a little chincy he did not mention the charges before you went to court, and what the charges were for.

I know but this city has a large courthouse and I don't what the worst thing can happen with a disorderly conduct charge. I did something stupid not major but I had to have a mouthpiece just to work around with the system here.

I used to live with my brother and his wife. Me and her were not really getting along and her best friend used to stay there for days at a time. Her friend decided she could get me pissed off and took some things from me. I had finished a six of Bud and I knew she did it. I said a few not so kind things to her and they called the cops. They knew I had a few and they asked me how much I drank. I told them and they decided the best thing was to get me out and bring me downtown. They hit me with a disorderly conduct ticket. Even though it is a misdemeanor I didn't want to go to court by myself. You can go to jail for just about anything and you never know what kind of judge you will be against. I didn't want to deal with some judge who doesn't even want to talk to you and just get this lawyer to settle it for me.

How long will it take you to come up with $400?

Another option would be to save up $400 and then take it to the casino and let us know how it goes.

That's not the issue here. I could drop him $400 now. It's don't change the agreed upon price.

Jesus dude, it was just a disorderly conduct, not an assault. You think a New York judge has the desire to drag that out? He woulda just slapped you with a fine and away you go. I think you should pay the lawyer, because you ain't too smart. You're gonna need him again for sure.

Why am I not too smart? I have Bachelors Degree. I already said I don't need someone pulling that sht on me. It ain't New York and I don't live in New Jersey anymore. I don't have to tell you where it was. I said I don't need someone pulling that sht on me so why would I want to hire him again? So he can rip me off again?
