Were you a John Wayne; Jim Stewart: Richard Boone; fan? A great nostalgic 10 minutes

This movie brings back those sentimental days, where men like Wayne and Boone were looked upon as being tough, outspoken men. And these 2 guys never showed their fans any sign of a weakness, either. Great role models for a young man growing up and lucky enough to see these men star in Westerns.

And I am man enough to admit, I could not keep the moisture from building up in my eyes.
I loved these old tough guys!
And after watching them disappear, one by one, forever, was no fun at all.

Ward Bond of Wagon Train, was a teammate of Wayne's on USC's football team. Both were big guys and they were both standouts I understand? I believe it was Wayne who had to stop playing football because of a serious leg injury?

This film talks the tight friendship they had for 50 years or more. Wayne lost his buddy, Ward, not many years before his cancer back again sealed his doom, too.

Boy, those movie stars of the 50's, 60's, 70's, loved those cancer sticks, did they not?

    * Did anyone ever have a male friend as close as these two guys were?
    I know I never did.

And if anyone here remembers those glorious movie days, too, you are getting old.

Yes, I am a fan of your body shriveling down to nothing when dying of lung cancer. Tormenting you down to a toothpick of the man you were in real life.

I watched my grandfather, a God in my eyes, wither away to nothing.

John Wayne was a real hero touting cigarettes. Fukk off azzhole.

No one ever said that cigarette smokers were the brightest bulbs in the kitchen.
As strong of a man, he was, and another hotshot, Patrick Swayze, (shocker!) was another, who could not get through the day without smoking.
It's a horrible drug and the government keeps brushing aside, thoughts of taking them off the market.
It's been circulating throughout our lives for a over a hundred years, and it is still do a healthy business everyday.

And we know why. And how long before out citizens wake from their slumber and start a serious campaign to take these killers off the market?
It makes no sense. But still makes a lot cents to for/our government.

Did you ever talk to your grandad about the pitfalls of smoking?
My grandad, the only one I knew well at all, was a daily tobacco chewing Kentucky farmer--and except for a house fire--he was 92--he definitely would have lived to be 100. He inhaled too much smoke and died about a week later.
    So, ironically, another smoke victim.

More tough-guy, authentic videos. Hollywood tuffs, Wayne and O'Brian.

Old guys remember the old guys like:

    Gregory Peck
    Kirk Douglass
    Lee Marvin
Humphrey Bogart, (one of the greatest)
    Jack Palance
    Robert Shaw
    Karl Malden
    Walter Bre4nnan
    George Kennedy
    David Niven

So many to remember, they don't make them like the actors from yesteryears..

Great list but I could hardly stand Greg Peck. Stiff as a broom and that slow talking eastern accent.
How about Burt Lancaster, Charles Bronson?

    No question, Lancaster and Bronson.

I was thinking of Peck, Niven and Anthony Quinn in "The Guns of Navorone"
Peck was also great in "12 O'clock High", "To kill a Mockingbird" and Spellbound.
    So many...

I thought 12 o clock high was the movie where Buddy Ravilli was going to fight the Kid After school but i looked it up it was 3 o'clock high. Kirk Douglas was great so Was Richard Widmark and Burt Lancaster. Most of the old actors basically were the same in every movie.James Stewart was awful i thought he was the worse actor ever.

Here's a little contest to see if you rough and tough members can pick the most likely--gotta add C.Heston, though--for the favorite to win a knock down, no rules contest of all these old roughnecks of Hollywood, but only the ones listed here already, but count Hestion in, too?

A: The likely winner of a round robin, no holds barred contest= ?
    Also:
    B. The very best actor of the already listed above=
In other words. the most natural and believable actor?

I will copy and paste my answers and send them to my email within 15 minutes.
ABE doesn't cheat--I quit any cheating by age 21--so I will send those 2 answers before this little contest ends, say, 8 PM CST.
    Do we have game?

Well okay, no challengers so I win by default.
I would have won anyway with these two champs:
A.Hugh excelled in 4 varsity sports in hs. The youngest Marine DI ever, in the Marines at 17 tears old.
    B. Are you kidding me> Heston as Judah Ben Hur, Ben Hur.
