Is New York A Picture of Success Or Failure?

    When it comes to Covid?

Lotta people patting them on the back lately for a job well done.

I'm open to either answer, but at first glance it seems that they are an example of the sharp curve we were supposed to avoid, and other states are suffering the effects of a more, flattened & sustained curve, but who
    knows?

Good point, but let's leave that aside for the moment. Let's give them a mulligan on that one for the sake of argument (even though I believe Cuomo gets credit for the biggest, or at least most obvious, blunder of this thing so far.

new york's graph does look good when compared to the other 49 states combined. the other 49 states had more than 3x as many deaths as new york also!

I almost liked that graph, Pavy, but that blue line should have a way higher spike, purely judging by these antibody tests. They weren't testing as much back then.

NY has done about the best you can expect. They were caught with their pants down in the beginning but eventually acted swiftly. Now if other cities and states would get their shit together, we might have our sports back.

Just today in Houston, I drove by a huge soccer park with 5 soccer fields, all PACKED with Hundreds of mostly Hispanic men playing and entire families jammed pack in bleachers. It looked like Carnival. I didn’t see many masks either. Crazy.

New York Fails. Not only did they pack the nursing homes full of Covid positive patents to eradicate the excess pension plan recipients. A totally sha-rude move by the gov, they also let the subways run around with no cleaning just like it was a normal day for a month before someone got the idea to maybe wipe down the seat every once in a while.

Last three comments are all correct IMO, especially soccer players and bleacher creatures.

They were caught with their pants down, hence were maybe beneficiaries of that too. I know they tried hard.

Anyone notice how nobody has caught a cold or the flu since this broke out?

    It's coronavirus or nothing.

And even people who aren't sick are being told they have the WuFlu

I had the cold in April but didn't go to the doctor. Do people go to the doctor with a cold?

here in ny the reaction was about 3 weeks too late.should have happened at the end of feb with the shutdown. that was a mistake.

the nursing homes were a major fcuk up.

one ny did shut down, i admit things have been done well and planned out. my only complaint now is not being strict enough on social distancing as we reopen.

With the mass transit, all the flights connecting thru, the density of housing, the street scene, the promescuity of youth, etc one would reasonably expect the % positive testing is wrong in either NYC figures or the FL ones. FL did find multiple outfits reporting inaccurate results of 100% (15% was real rate of pos test), but unless I'm way off base here, it stands to reason that NYC will see a surge in positive test results very soon, or we will learn the Southern results were false positive.

It just doesn't make sense. Much like early CA results....then their wave hit.

Other than the nursing home fiasco, Cuomo did a good job and I'm no Cuomo fan.

NY had to do things with so many unknowns. Other states have little excuse as they could have used NYS example and learned from mistakes. Problem is, everyone thought it was a NYS problem.

New york was the worst to handle the situation. Cuomo was a nut job too busy complaining instead of helping his state

New york is successful with the media showing them favortism.

Via turd polishing their virus numbers.

China and new york have a lot in common that way.

    Looks like NY bankrupted itself.

Look....any city/ state/ country can shut down. That's the easy thing to do.

Keeping an economy going while limiting death is the difficult thing.

NY did neither. Most dead and now $60billion in the hole.

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/york-...133340361.html

They are the most incompetent and disastrous situation in the world actually.

    It wasn't just multiple outfits.

    It was 300.

300 Florida Covid sites tested 100%.

Complete failure. I'm here and have seen it first hand.

Just look at New York City. It's estimated that between 300-400,000 of its wealthiest residents have left - many permanently. It really was the safest big city in America when DeBlasio got elected, now it's a shell of itself. World famous shopping districts are boarded up because of virus and riots, while normal people avoid the subways. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the state ... Connecticut is booming now, though.

Only the moisture exhaled through the lungs is corona contagious.

Unless ppl are getting AIDs and herpes by smelling the farts of infected ppl now.

Any State that closed is a failure or failure in waiting.

Even Florida had over 100k 1st time UI filings this week

The impact of closure will be felt not now, but in Sept/ Oct
