Ryan is really good, he gave no chance at all.

He's playing really well in this round. If he sweeps Toptal he wins the tourney. Current standings

I was just looking over Daniels games vs Toptal... holy crap! These games are great! Daniel did a great job exploiting some mediocre sideplay and working his way back into these games... Could this be a sweep??

The game where Daniel is Green is particularly impressive. I think he's got a chance to hold him to under 10

I feel he made some bad moves after games were reinstated. Maybe he did that on purpose because he felt bad? I dont know.

Nah, he makes subtle mistakes on the sides fairly frequently as seen in moves #18 and #28 in your game where he is Purple. The difference is... the boys from SBR make him pay for his mistakes where as most players don't.

    What a great final section!

Yeah, that's tough to tell if you could have won. I assume it was #38 you wish you could do over. I think you were going to have to move into that spot anyway because he had those 2 free moves in the upper left area. And because he had that lower right section of the board blocked off so well I'm not sure if #38 done differently would have changed anything.

I just went through that game and here are a few notes.

    #13 for Purple
You should have attempted the Open 2 from the top of that wall instead of the bottom. That way it would have been impossible for him to force you into a UE and you likely could have got the Open 2 on your next move.

    #28 Purple
I think this move probably cost you the game. You should have moved to the spot just up and to the left of where you moved. You lost at least a move in that whole exchange.

Your next several moves were very good and that's about all I could find. Great game!

    This finals is fantastic!

I thought move #35 was a mistake too?

Well at least I won another game!

Good catch! I missed that one. Upon further review, I would have taken that left corner.

Looks like Ryan and myself will be going to a 4th round.

So... I'm not sure what you guys want to do with that tiebreaker because it's going to go to a 4th round.

Ryan as Purple beat Toptal 65-25

Toptal as Purple beat Ryan 59-31

    The difference is Ryan +12

So... that would mean Daniel wins the prediction points, as he had Toptal +38 and Blanko had Toptal +39. But... I never mentioned a 4th round so... I'm not sure how you guys want to do this. Should we just call it here? Or should the tie-breaker be voided because there is a 4th round?

Yeah, in 2007 my nephew swept me in the finals and in 2008 there was a player named SAN from Japan that swept me in the finals as well.

I hadn't played in any tourneys since 2008 until 2020. I don't think I've ever lost 2 games in a Hexversi tourney that I won though. Ryan brought his A game in the last round, should be another good one.

Back when I used to play 6x6 tourneys I would sometimes split with Toptal or Came Dude in the finals several rounds in a row. Hopefully that won't happen here.

It started yesterday. This link should work:

    https://www.itsyourturn.com/iyt.dll?...15300068965199

If the link doesn't work, you can click on Tournament Area and then click on My Tournament Summary and then click on Complete Tournament Summary and then click on Round 4 Section 1.

    Thanks!

Link worked. Im not sure why but I cant find it from my Tournament Summary, it only shows 3 Rounds.

Ryan is really good. Blanko and I havent been able to beat him. Toptal however we both already beat him. If he wasnt better than Toptal before, Im sure he is now.

I managed to take down Ryan. In the game where I am Purple, I really smoked him on that left-hand side, getting 4 of the 5 spots in that section of the board. Starting with move 22:

    https://www.itsyourturn.com/pp?gm&g=...&u=0&t=0&gn=97

He didn't have a chance after that.

The game where I am Green was a good one! Ryan is really good at blocking moves that I am trying to get. I think this was a key move for me... Move 26 for Green

    https://www.itsyourturn.com/pp?gm&g=...1447&t=3&gn=97

I thought I could coast after that but by move 33 I didn't like any of my available options. I ended up choosing what I felt was the least worse. What would you guys have done here on #33?

    https://www.itsyourturn.com/pp?gm&g=...1447&t=3&gn=97

I think move #35 won me the game because it allowed me to gain a move on that far right side.

    https://www.itsyourturn.com/pp?gm&g=...1447&t=3&gn=97

Great games for sure! I thought we were going to split there for a minute.

This tourney was a lot of fun! Lots of great games. I plan on organizing another tourney within the next week or so. I am hoping you guys will join.

Congrats on taking down the tourney John! Very nice win and well-deserved no doubt

May study these games a bit if I get around to it and am not feeling too lazy

Congrats John!! It was a fun tournament! I hope I can do better in the next one (that probably means beating Ryan, which is really complicated).
