Man Loses At Casino, Gets Insurance Payout & Loses Again, Sue's For Money Back 🤦

A Man Who Lost A Ton At The Casino, Threw Himself In Front Of A Bus, Got A Big Insurance Payout, And Then Lost All Of That Money Again At The Casino Is Suing Them For His Money Back

    Barstool Sports
    1/2/20

A man is suing Caesars Windsor because the Ontario casino allegedly allowed him to gamble and lose.

The gambler, Tarwinder Shokar, is suing the casino for all his losses which comes to about $342,000 and $500,000 on top of that in punitive damages, according to the Windsor Star.

On October 17, 2013, Shokar arrived at Caesars Casino with a $55,000 bank draft and had the full luxury treatment.

With $25,000 in chips, he played roulette for about an hour, went to eat with an escort, then returned to the gaming floor, according to the Windsor Star.

He then withdrew another $25,000 and managed to lose it all.

He then showed up with another two $75,000 bank drafts to add to his casino account and eventually lost $250,000 that day.

At one point, he tried to end his life by stepping in front of a truck after having gambled all his money, but failed and managed to get a big insurance payout with which he decided to gamble again.

Soon he headed to Caesars Windsor and managed to lose the $342,000 that he is now trying to gain back.

    —–

What a story!!!! Just so you have this one straight, my man lost over $250,000 at the casino in the span of a few days (and had lunch with an escort, which they happily included in the article), jumped in front of a bus to try and kill himself, survived and got a big fat insurance payout, and then blew that $342,000 insurance payment in a day at another casino. What a legend! And can you really blame him? I mean, think about it. This dude jumped in front of a truck. When you survive a jump in front of a truck and then get paid $342,000 as a result, you’re free rolling life. Sure you can turn your life around with this god-given second chance…orrrrrrrrrr you can get right back in that casino and put it all on black, baby! Besides, what are the chances you can blow mid-six figs twice in a decade? Certainly Lady Luck has to be on your side the 2nd time.

But alas, Lady Luck was nowhere to be found, as he lost another $342,000. So obviously his only play is to pack it in, get an honest job, and humbly earn his money. No just kidding, he is suing the shit out of the casino for that money back, plus damages! What a little fraudster. Can’t even be mad at that dedication to the delusional degenerate game. He was bailed out once, and now is doubling down on it. Never seen anything like it. And in a weird, twisted way I hope he wins. You know what I mean? Just to see how he’ll blow it all a 3rd time, because we know it’ll happen.

Just a reminder kids, gamble responsibly. And if you think you have a problem dial 1-800-gambler.

He's basically rolling the dice in court.

Occassionally you'll get a judge who feels sympathy for this type of guy or apathy towards casinos. The guy will flood the judge w 100s of pages of bullshit affidavits from experts and casino personnel and then motion for summary judgment.

If he gets it he's back in the $$$, if he loses he can try to get a settlement from the casino for $20-40k cash and comps and get a portion back that way.

If you're the casino and want to avoid bad press you pay him 20k to go away.

if he wins do you think that sets a bad precedent as others will sue when losing big now?

    Here’s a silly question.
If Shokar had gambled hat insurance money and had won would Caesars sue him?

reminds me of that day in Vegas when I spotted JJ contemplating the whole "throw myself in front of a bus and sue" move after he lost his last twenty bucks on some horseshit game.....

that's him in the jacket and orange shirt at the bus stop out in front of the Silver Sevens, trying to get up the courage to jump in front of an approaching bus:

I'm pretty sure, as Vegas folk lore goes, JJ owes his life to that gay dude on the bike next to him there, who offered to let JJ suck him off for a twenty rather than allow JJ to heave himself out in front of a bus.... got Gold back into the game that night and he hit a five team parlay and the never looked back.... the rest is history)

    Story doesn’t make sense.

What kind of insurance, the bus company’s or any other he might have had, would pay him a dime when he intentionally jumped in front of the bus with the intent to end his life in the first place?

Did he have failed suicide insurance?

Well, yes, however now that gambling is more mainstream they are free targets.

Much like tobacco and alcohol and guns, gambling is now going to be open to different jurisdictions outside of Vegas and AC that will rule based on regional or moral values and as such may see some liability here.

That's the downside of expanded gambling, they lose the protection associated with having, literally, home court advantage.

    Dude, they just settle.

I owned a skate park/ BMX facility w foam pit and ramps.

I had a sign that excluded anyone in excess of 225 pounds from accessing the foam pit. All kids sign waivers, etc.

17 yr old fat fukk weighs in at 345 pounds launches his bmx 20 feet into the air and drops into the 8 ft deep foam Pit, breaks the springs underneath (set for 8,000 pound impact) and breaks his fat leg on the concrete floor after plummeting thru 8 feet of foam, a teamelene and the spring back ups.

He Sue's my insurance and they pay him $100k even thou he clearly signed the waiver, was morbidly obese, read the sign and violated the terms and conditions of the user agreement.

That sentence will be by far the funniest thing I read or watch today.

I read it over 3 or 4 times and envisioning it got funnier each time.

I’d easily would have paid $100 or more to have watched that happen in person.

Wouldn’t they fight this sort of the thing until the end? I would think even settling would set precedent anyone could lose big and then sue casinos.

I remember another guy, crazy rich Asian guy I think, getting hammered for weeks on end in Vegas, playing $50k per hand on seven hands of BJ per deal and going through more than $500 million total of his inheritance money. One casino eventually banned him and he just went down the street and picked up the activity somewhere else.

Claimed the casino was getting him so drunk he shouldn’t be held responsible for the losses because he was blacked out drunk, I believe the case got thrown out by a judge.

In Vegas yeah, consumer has zero chance.

AC, again, region relying on gaming, consumer has zero chance.

But as gaming expands into more districts that have had blue laws on the books and a more socially conservative/ judicially liberal approach to society we may bee gambling get tag teamed by social and judicial warriors like guns and alcohol and smokes.

In the end it will result in a higher house edge on all games.

Fight till the end....no, lawfirm most likely on a contingency. Will settle for 25k, they take 15k for having an intern drafting the claim, pure profit.
