Who saw a tax break this year in America?

I just got my final numbers in today from my tax accountant.. I can't believe how much lower my taxes are for 2018. Funny thing is I made more money in 2018 then I did in 2017. Big reduction in taxes to pay out this year compared to last.

    NO LIE!! Thank you Trump!!!

Chime in if you have a tax story to tell for the better this go around. I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OUT THERE!!!

There are many idiots who are complaining about a lower refund

Those are the same idiots who have had more money in their paychecks and have paid less taxes for the year as a result

Our country, and most of the world consists of people with such a low IQ that I couldn't even pretend to be as stupid as them

    Take liberals, for example

Bring that you constantly praise Trump can anyone really believe a single thing you say about your taxes? There is zero chance after all the praising you’ve done for him that you would ever post a negative review of your taxes even if you had a worse tax situation.
That right there makes this pretty much a bias thread and makes no sense to even have it up.

I'm just a ham-n-egger, but certainly noticed when the tax cuts first kicked in. Expected a lower refund at the end of the year, but that wasn't the case, so it's all good. The problem is that these cuts, individual and corporate, were supposed to pay for themselves; to this point, the answer to that has been a resounding hell no. If our debt doesn't worry you, you ain't paying attention.

the Obamacare penalty thing doesn't go away until tax year 2019... so people still had to pay that bogus "tax, penalty"

    for tax year 2018

I have healthcare but it stated this pretty openly as I was starting my Federal return a while back. Don't know why its taking so long to axe it for good since the mandate was dumped in late 2017.

Since you’re a doctor in CA, I’d expect you to have a 1M mortgage...thus the cap on property taxes and other home write offs has diminished, making you pay more.

The US national debt has increased by more than $2 trillion dollars since Donald Trump entered the White House, according to new data.
Figures released by the Treasury Department showed the debt stood at $21.974 trillion at the end of 2018, more than $2 trillion higher than when Mr Trump took office.

Lol well there was still an Obamacare penalty this year for people who didn’t carry insurance so it shows you are misinformed. You pretty much just ruined looking non bias. Just shouting non facts.
Also the tax situation if you were more informed does not help everyone. Ask anyone with three children how they feel. Might as well discard that third child. Also ask people who pay large property tax bills yearly. See how they feel about not having itemized deductions.
Jibby you are a Trump homer and that’s fine if you want to be that but be transparent.
Also love the subtle jab about me only knowing hood rats but then you not completing understanding tax law. Your judgement couldn’t be more way off.

Not entirely true. When Trump changed things, you could just ignore that section of the return and not pay a penalty. The IRS doesn't know how to deal with it yet.

than why has there been 6 billion less taken in. The reason you got more is because you got a double exemption. But most people that really work ,have kids and homes lost. But on other hand my mother had long terms gains of 18,000, took money out of her s.e.p. and is on social security and paid 0 dollars. My brother that is a pressure cleaner and his wife works at cintas. They have 3 kids and own their house. They got 4,000 less and they make around 100,000 as a family

    Not in my case.

My wife and I made a little but more than last year, but got back thousands less because we went over the amount allowed to earn child credit, which appears they lowered or didn't adjust

I saved on my taxes, that was the point of the thread.. If my taxes were more I wouldn't have started the thread.. Had the same tax accountant for the past 10 years.. Nothing changed and I don't cheat on my taxes..

Is what it is.. I pay out less this year!!! NOT LYING!!!! Trust me I'd rip on Trump and his tax cuts if that wasn't the case.. I don't play games people.. I'm all for a better and safer America and less Government control and lower taxes.

That really has more to do with Congress and the fact that they spend without accounting for what they spend and how they spend it. My getting to MY money that I earned doesn't cost them anything. They should adjust their spending.

And whoever mentioned the high property tax, that is a state/local issue. YOU voted for those officials. That isn't my problem. It's YOURS. Perhaps vote people in who aren't socialists? Because what happens is you all then up and move into nice little states like mine that are a lot less tax-suckers. But you bring your stupid ass ideas with you and then vote to CHANGE my state, thus making it like the piss poor run one you just left.
