    Are Noise-cancelling headphones BS?

Just bought Sony headphones for $55. Seems to work perfectly good.

Heard that Beats headphones are selling for $350...and that they produce it for $14. Who is buying this crap? I guess people will believe anything. How can they possibly be worth that price?

For the old guys on here, when did paying for a brand become a thing? Is it just a byproduct of marketing being so effective?

The main example from when I was a kid was sneakers and some clothing brands.

Beats headphones sound terrible. If you want to go middle of the road on price between Sony and Bose/Beats, I say go with Sennheiser. The noise-cancelling works great and the sound is amazing for either music or movies.

These are what you need, Chucky.
For sound quality I'd rate them a 4, but a perfect 10 for style.

Take a long international flight with your $55 headphones and you will understand how good quality noise cancelling headphones are.

Mid range Bose corded ones for $150 leave you feeling 300% better after a 14 hour flight.

Abso-fukn-lutely. You don't realize how loud it is inside a plane until you try and listen to whatever with non-noise cancelling headphones. Bought a pair of Plantronics BB Pros a few years back, bluetooth, comfortable and excellent sound (around $200 I think, thank you very much SBR/Amazon gift card). Hell, I wear them when mowing my grass, no problem. Without noise canc. I'd have to turn them up so loud I'd probably be deaf.

No I have 4 of them in different variations, all NC, and they're worth every dime as the kraken said.

Opti/Swords, thx for the tip. I'll look at Bose.

I'm not cheap. I just don't like paying for BS/marketing.

It's the constant drone that really gets me. And when you take headphones off you realize how crazy loud it is too.

I think that noise is more than 50% responsible for the jetlagged feeling from flying.

Bose noise cancelling are really good, when you listen to music and have the cancelling on you cant hear anything else on the outside. There not cheep but you only have to buy them once. I wont use anything else, I tried beats before but bose is way better.
