So a buddy and I want to create a tv show

Has anyone ever attempted this? He has bought some camera equipment a book on how to write a screen play, bought editing software, and has started writing 3 different tv shows. The plan is to send to hollywood and see if they will buy it. Would it be easier to do animation than to try to film with real people?

    LOL

    yes

It's impossible to crack the door into that 'community' without hiring insiders.

Start with outline of story & character development. Find a professional, union writer. Then find a professional, union developer and if you have something the developer (producer) will let you know

Advice: what we think is funny, they don't. I likened my experience to the old beer ads versus todays beer ads....the old snl versus todays snl.

Our wit, sarcasm, racial/ethnic, sexual or vice related humor just doesn't fly to the masses. Also, they'll never produce anything that features gun violence.

Very easy to do. Just think of an idea that's never been thought of before. See? Easy.

Seriously, Hollywood is out of ideas - they have been for 20 years or so. Remakes and cartoon movies are the only thing they can do now.

Many small and independent filmmakers have been picked up by major labels, usually it happens if they develop a new and interesting method of cinematography or CGI production.

One example of this is the "Hardcore Henry" franchise which innovated 1st person cinematography. They started out small(er) filming things like music videos:

There have been other cases where someone invented a new way to create CGI scenes on a budget or did something else noteworthy that got them in the biz.

If you really want your work pushed by major powers you only have to write leftist material that pushes their agendas. It could be something devised to incite a race war between whites and blacks like how Spike Lee does. Then they'll throw fake oscar awards @ you.

    .

Then there's the somewhat "independent" route like this guy who is creating a "Darth Vader" series on youtube.

Anyways, good luck! Hope you succeed!
