Donkers keeping it real with the moon missions we now understand how hazardous space travel is, we learned the dust on the moon is very fine, crater impacts caused much of that dust.. Learned the gravity and so many other things about the moon..

You should try watching the shows on tv on lunar missions.. You might learn a few things.. We have an American flag still standing on the moon today.. I like that!!!

Today it's still right there standing along with the rover tracks...

Did you know the temperatures on the moon surface can very, you can cook or freeze..

Daytime on one side of the moon lasts about 13 and a half days, followed by 13 and a half nights of darkness. When sunlight hits the moon's surface, the temperature can reach 260 degrees Fahrenheit (127 degrees Celsius). When the sun goes down, temperatures can dip to minus 280 F (minus 173 C).

Prime example of how taxpayer funding is diverted towards conducting research which benefits corporate profiteering interests rather than legit scientific ones?

The lander will be equipped to determine the feasibility of mining mars for precious metals & other valuable assets--rather than broadening our scope of knowledge within a scientific vein?

NASA is a dysfunctional and extremely corrupt institution btw.

They're trying to steal credit for the EM drive which they had zero role in designing or developing.

They began an unfair and agenda based investigation of Space X for Elon Musk smoking weed on Joe Rogan's podcast.

    Et al.

    Fk NASA.

Missions with the greatest scientific significance could be ones to europa (or saturn's other moons) being that those are composed of a high percentage of water & have the highest chance of complex life existing.

Confirmed DoA planets like mars don't have much to contribute.

I've seen James Cameron's movie Avatar once. That was more than enough, bruh. Don't even joke about that !@#%.

Oh I know there is a fortune in meteorite finds even here on Earth today.. Yes there is big money is Space and other planets no doubts in regards to mining precious medals and what not.. We still are not even close to mining stuff outside of earth then getting back here yet that's the problem..

Were probably 50-100 years away from that now.. Mars is not a mining mission yet. It's still just a search and discover mission at this point.. Trust me..

Elon Musk, Boeing, NASA, Virgin Galactic and others have announced plans for manned missions to mars within 10-20 years.

If it happens, there will be a steady stream of rockets heading to mars from earth providing food, supplies, etc.

Those supply rockets would probably be re-used and sent back to earth completely empty from mars round trip which would open the door to them being filled with mining cargo should there be mineral deposits close enough to the surface of mars to make it feasible(then airlifting everything into space somehow off a fuel source that can be mined from mars itself).

There could be other reasons for the updated mars lander but I think a decent case could be made for the funds being better spent elsewhere with NASA dropping the ball for the umpteenth time, showing the world why they can't build rockets as affordably or with the quality that Space X can.

Opposite. There will be no life on the moons of the solar system. They know this.
What they still don't know or won't share, is if there is still, yes STILL life on Mars.

Hey if Space X or NASA get people to Mars and they mine it and can bring it back with the people I'm cool with that.. Space missions cost a fortune let them get some of that money back.. Mission accomplished.. Man on Mars...

I still don't think it's gonna happen.. Too far a journey and to many human dangers along the way..

I'll tell you what you need to make it happen, Force field around ship and or astronauts to shield from radiation and small micro asteroid hits and other unknowns..

You need a ship that is propelled by something more powerful then rocket fuel.. Years in space won't work on the human body.. Got get there in a few days or weeks tops..

Lastly you need artificial gravity or the body and muscles wither away fast..

We got along way to go still before sending people to Mars.. Space X reverse landing with rocket is impressive and a start... NOT GOOD ENOUGH...

^ Its more likely a moon with free flowing water like enceladus has current life than mars does.

Too true. The best idea for radiation shielding seems to be lining hull with water. Water shield. Nothing fancy like magnetic shielding unfortunately although have to wonder if a tesla coil could do one better.

What's cool is plans to colonize or terraform mars. Some have suggested building a giant shield in orbit to block radiation. I think Elon Musk proposed using nuclear weapons to heat mars--although that might not be one of this best ideas ever.

I haven't seen any plans that could combat the reduction in bone density and decline in health that comes with living in micro gravity for prolonged periods of time. If people traveled to mars, it could be a one way trip. Returning to a higher gravity environment on earth could kill them.

A lot of problems and obstacles are being ignored to keep people enthusiastic and raise morale.

^^ Right now I think we should be trying to power up, find ways to go faster.. Harness nuclear power instead of rocket fuel maybe or just find something completely new and out of the realm of science perhaps. Complete new discovery to propel space crafts... I'm not sold on Black hole or worm hole travel.. Once outside of earths atmosphere we need to learn how to really travel fast that's all I know.. Rocket fuel is garbage..

Gotta dream big in life.. Sometimes you get that flash of brilliance and understanding and deliver. Very rare though.. Einstein. Creative thinking and understanding of things is a blessing from God I believe..
