American Rock...Qualitatively speaking Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry from the get go.
Going onward through The Band, The Almond Bros.,Prince and JIMI HENDRIX.
You can pull the plug after Hendrix.

*Quanitatively- You could crown the Funk Bros. for outstanding productivity.
But I don't consider pop rhythm and blues (Motown) rock and roll.
Nor a schlocky ballad by an equally schlocky Joan Osborne...but to each their own.

But it's AMERICAN Rock and Roll and we all have our musical favorites.
    ENJOY.

If you can mention English Rock n' Roll... The Beatles, Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Led Zeppelin
    are an absolute must.

Terry Kath was known as the "white Jimi"
The great Jimi once said after this performance that "Terry Kath is the only guitarist he'd pay money to listen too" pretty much saying Terry Kath is the best he ever heard.

Terry Kath was the face of that band, screw Peter Cetera, yeah Cetera has mad skills, but he'a whining weeny,

I was a horn player, I played trombone, I wanted to be the next James Pankow (Chicago) I wound up a computer geek, how's that happen?

The guitar sold from 3:00 on in this clip many call the greatest ever live.
Jimi loved it, and remember this is a live clip 47 years ago, raw, no edit, no bullshit.

this mo fo's influences were far n wide.... even harvey weinstein was influenced by Buddy Holly, and he literally applied Holly's wisdom/lyrics to every aspect of his movie makin' career....

listen to the first line of the song above:

"I'ma gonna tell you how it's gonna be....

of course it is taste 19, but I answered the question using a fact. opinions, well you know what they say about opinions and a part of our anatomy. however, opinions are what drives conversations like this one and I get it.

this band deserves no consideration on the topic here, but I've always like this little tune:

pissed off a girl I was dating right before we left for texas motor speedway for a race about some other bitch she knew I was dating, and this song comes on as we're leaving houston for dallas, she cranks it up and starts singing the shit to me as loud as she can.....

I said fuk this shit, pulled over, rented a goddam room in spring, texas (only 30 minutes from my loft downtown), and ass banged her for about twenty minutes, finished, checked out, and enjoyed the rest of a calm trip up to fort worth......

    she seemed ok with it.....

come to think of it, that experience is probably the only reason i like the damn song.....

Have no real favorites. Like everything that comes along, but one of my favorites was Grand Funk Railroad.

Us guys used to go camping, pounding beers (not butts Donk) and listening the them over and over dancing around the fire.
