Most of the college sports suck in the north east except for Connecticut basketball and boston college in football.They have the awful ivey league basketball teams that primarily play on a fridays while no one is watching. Dont forget the bad football teams in ivey league.

Growing up in the Greater NYC area, there is a certain element of rivalry between Boston and New York. Went to Salem, MA last year, certainly would consider moving to that area. Fall is beautiful, its close to Boston, the people were nice. Never really been to the west coast, so I can't compare, but it is a nice area.

Northeasterns get a bad rep, but people aren't out right hostile. They are just less outgoing and more suspicious of strangers. People are surprised when they move here that the neighbors don't show up with baked goods. They are then happy that their neighbors leave them alone, and don't involve them with bullshit.

NYC is taxed to high. The amount of square footage of real estate in NY is way too small compared to other states and expensive. Its the only place I know where you can rent your back yard out for a party and make money for someone using your space.I talked to a uber driver the other day that moved from NY City to orlando fla he said he liked Orlando better. Everyone in NY is all about trying to get money from you and if some says hi they look at you like your bothering them and ask you what the F you want.Who can deal with the bad traffic in NYC all the time?

I live in Fairfield, home of the Fairfield Stags.
You crave crappy basketball? You came to the right place.
Fairfield has won three MAAC conference titles in their history, earning them three auto invites to NCAA March Madness, all three were one and dones.
1997 if you remember though Fairfield almost pulled off the 16 vs 1 seed upset for the ages.
Fairfield matched North Carolina hoop for hoop in that first round game, only to fall short by six points.
Ask North Carolina's coach Lute Olsen what was the toughest game that tourney, he'll tell you the Stags gave them fits all game.
But we here in Fairfield Ct. have been suffering from shitty MAAC hoops for the last 20 years.

I work in New Haven, home of the Yale Bulldogs.
Crappy football, had a few decent squads the past ten years, usually they lose to Harvard in "The Game" every season.

Two years ago Yale had a 23 and 7 team that was shooting lights out every game.
Every game mid season Bulldogs were hanging 80 and 90 burgers, weird to see an Ivy score 86-70 on a regular basis. The running joke was since when did Yale become the best school in Ct. for hoops.
That 2015-2016 Yale team went to the NCAA tourney.
They played Duke twice that year, once in one of those November start of season tourneys, gave Duke a game for the first half, second half it was all Duke, and then Yale played Duke a second time in the big dance, second round, almost shocked the Dukies,
Duke had a 23 point lead at half, stretched it to 27 then Yale goes on this incredible run, it's 65-61 with a minute and 8 seconds left, Yale loses by seven. Coach K had that stupid look on his face the last 8 minutes.

UConn hoops gets all the press, but UConn baseball is a power Northeast baseball team.
Connecticut has tons of baseball talent, always gets no press, no exposure.
Springer played for UConn with the Red Sox late inning reliever pitcher Barnes.
Charlie Morton pitched HS ball in Connecticut, so did Matt Harvey, but UConn could only offer Harvey a partial scholarship, NC blew him out of the water with a free ride with all the bells and whistles.

Oh, and the Fairfield Little League always gets to the World Series, (well not always, only to get blown out by Texas)

I avoid New York City as much as I can. I get stuck going there for work sometimes, and occasionally go for personal reasons.

It certainly is expensive as hell, but you make more money. Many people try to work in NYC for a few years, and move somewhere else, so they can negotiate a higher pay based on "Well I was making 120,000".

I know S.F. Bay area is probably too liberal for you (there actually are conservatives here by the way, a minority but they exist), it is expensive as f>ck, and you can't own any fun guns to shoot. But it truly is a great place to live. Weather is great year round, great food (just the local taco truck would qualify as the best Mexican food in some states), good skiing, the ocean (although the water is dang cold), delta/ocean fishing, decent hunting (duck, deer & hog), great breweries and wineries, excellent for live music and Nevada casino's are close enough to not be too much of an inconvenience to visit.

quite familiar with the area. your commuting options
and best bets for living will depend on where your work
is.. just saying "Boston area" isn't enough. Communting options
have expanded in recent years. Driving 1-2 hours around Boston
is not like driving in other parts of the country. Using the MBTA
is very popular among professionals - faster and cheaper and less
aggravating - there is also the subway "T" if you live within about
12 miles of the city. For example if you work right near a T dropoff
or an MBTA stop that would be important to know, or if you are the
type who would always refuse to ride subway or commuter rail regardless
of the advantages.

I am looking at condos in Concord. Can find good ones for around $225k. Good city. Can get a little hot sometimes, like this coming weekend, but still has the bay area vibe to it.
