I was going to put up a "warning to seeweed" thread on this full-eclipse bullshit, so the poor bastard doesn't freak the fuk out when it goes dark mid-day up in the northwest U.S.....

unstable fukker like him, no telling what he might do....

and he could find himself in a lot of danger if the dumb prick runs out onto the awning, thinking it's nightfall, only to fall prey to the nieghbor's cat when the sun suddenly reappears, and he no longer has the darkness as cover.....

they say animals are going to go off deep end, kind of like they do before an earthquake.....

I'm already seeing some signs of it.....

in addition to seeweed uncontrollably running around in circles, i saw this bear hangin' out near the front gate of my ranch this morning:

I have a really busy schedule on Monday.

I am making phone calls right now to see if they can postpone this event until Tuesday which is when I have more free time.

I'm driving to a town just north of Nashville. The weather forecast has improved dramatically over the past 48 hours so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Be in good position for this, if the smoke from all the forrest fires doesn't completely block everything. Most days you can't even tell if it is cloudy or just smoke until it starts raining.

I'm nowhere close to the path of totality. Why can't the stupid eclipse work everywhere? Hopefully there's another one in a couple weeks

I'm leaning toward doggy, but my wife keeps hinting that her neck would prefer we watch it while in reverse cowgirl.......

I haven't had the nerve to tell her that being in houston, we won't even notice the difference.... I just want to bang out by the pool "during an eclipse"......

we generally hit it pool-side during all the major events nature throws our way.... Hurricane Ike enabled us to scratch "fuk during hurricane outside" off our respective bucket lists.....

now, I have to admit, that was pretty wild.....

I remember that too. Don't remember the animals acting strange tho.

They are saying don't record with your phones/ cameras. Will damage them. Record with those glasses?

I get the ass end of it, barely. Wish I could travel to somewhere with the total eclipse. Enjoy stuff like this, but live in a shit area where I never see any of it, and I don't have 28 years left in me until the next.

JJ, you should get a sun filter for your fancy telescope and you'll be all set.

While experts have made it clear that people must wear special eclipse glasses in order to prevent vision loss while looking directly at the sun, it raises the question of whether pets need similar protection.

Melanie Monteiro, a pet safety expert who teaches pet first-aid classes and the author of "The Safe-Dog Handbook: A Complete Guide to Protecting Your Pooch, Indoors and Out," says animals shouldn't need the same eye protection.

"There's really no reason to be concerned about that,'' she told TODAY. "Dogs and cats don't normally look up into the sun, so you don't need to get any special eye protection for your pets."

Monteiro stressed there's only anecdotal information about pets' reactions to such a rare event given that the last solar eclipse visible from the contiguous U.S. occurred in 1979, and the last one to stretch from coast to coast exclusively in the country happened 99 years ago.

I heard that are making special glasses for your pet so they don't get blinded if they look at the eclipse.

What would be the difference if they looked up at the sun any other day or looked at the eclipse?
