Possible Ear Clog Issue? Anyone Experience This Before?

Woke up about 3 weeks ago. Just noticed when I was talking... I wasn't hearing clearly on my right side. Sounds like it's a tad muffled. Oddly enough... there are moments when my hearing goes back to stereo but only for a few minutes... then quickly... the sound is muffled... only in the right ear.

I don't like going to the doctors and wasting money when it might be a minor issue... and could possibly be fixed with a simple home remedy.

Went online to read a few stories in which the ear was clogged because of ear wax etc. I never had a problem with an abundance of ear wax before. lol But, anything is possible. I also read a story in which... if your ear is clogged it could be a sign of a bacteria infection... which would cause an ear infection and then of course an ear ache. Well... good thing is... there's no pain. Again, I've had this for about 3 weeks now.

Read a report online from a Dr. who claimed... you can use a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide and it should clear out any built up ear wax. I tried that about 3 times now... it did clear it up for a few hours... but again... the muffled sounds comeback.

Another Dr. claims you can use drops of baby oil in the ear... and that's the best way to clear out ear wax. Haven't tired this yet. Freaks me out to use baby oil in the ear canal for some reason.

A blogger claims it could be a sinus infection which could clog one of the ears... well I don't believe I have any sinus issues.

Also, I don't have a balancing issue while standing... I don't feel light headed at all. And I continue to lift weights and run without any problems.

I've also read a few stories on the internet of people who have the same issues as I do... they've tried to correct the issue for a year... with many follow up visits to the doctors... and the doctor can't seem to correct the issue. They simply live with the problem.... doctor claims it's not consider a loss of hearing... or a hearing impairment.

Oddly enough... while my head is tilted to one side while sleeping... it seems to clear up on it's own. But when I stand up for a few minutes... the right ear gets clogged again.

    It's just a bizarre situation.

Just wondering if anyone had any issues like this before... or had a friend that had a similar condition. How was the problem corrected? Thanks.

I did! In fact I started a very similar thread seeking advice when it happened.

Scared the shit out of me as I woke up one morning, and felt like I had gone deaf on one side. I went to the doctor within a day or two...she cleaned my ears, and problem fixed immediately.

I had never had an issue with earwax. I think what happened is that I fell asleep with head on a heating pad, which melted the wax....then I rolled over on my side and it all drained into the one year. I've never had that happen again. Periodically it will feel a little clogged, but I can run hot water directly into the ear canal and it will break it up. There are all sorts of home remedies on the net, but if it is bothersome enough I would just go to the doctor and be done with it...jmo... Good Luck!

You can buy ear wax removal drops at CVS. I think there's a kit that you can get with a syringe to flush it out. It will still take a day or two to hear normally again after you use it. I doubt it's an infection since you show no signs of infection.

Buy a kit and mix up the solution it comes with.

Dont put weird stuff in your ears.

Yeah what the above say. Get a kit called Debrox with a washer that comes with it in the box. You need that washer to rinse out the wax after you put the drops in. It has some peroxide in the drops so when you put it in your ear it is gonna make some noise popping and fizzles. You need to let it soak awhile best if you can do it overnight let soften up the wax. If your ear dont hurt I doubt if it's infected. If your ear hurts probably would have to see a doctor.

I have to do this at least once a year on my ears. Dusty conditions mostly contribute to it. I wash out pieces the size of small kernel of corn. Sometimes they are to big to float out on their own and I have to have the wife with a pair of tweezers pull it out. She really doesn't like to look at them either.

once in my dorm back at aTm, a guy woke up with a helluva ear ache and unable to hear....

went to the quack shack, and they determined a small roach had climbed in his ear and lodged itself all the way in..... dude caught shit for the next several years....

You got some sort of buildup in there. Get the debrox crap and put a few drops in your ears. It'll feel weird as it starts to work. Full up the bulb with warm water and squirt that in your ear. The pressure and force should make the crap come out. Use the bulb to suck residual water out. Should feel better immediately after blockage gets out

I'd been holding off posting this critical information, but since the thread keeps poppin' up, i figured what the hell...

JJ had it happen once while at work, turned his head to the left prematurely, right as, ironically, "the money shot" was unleashed at this place:

on a side note, be careful, JJ.... looks like the NSA is getting up on the roof of your business, possibly to install bugs/hidden cameras.....

    either them or John Stagliano.....

After you've used the ear cleaners mentioned above, you might want to buy a little device called the WaxVac. It's a little vacuum that gently sucks crap out of your ears. It's one of those 'As Seen on TV' products, but I got it at CVS for about $15. I use it just a couple times a week after showering, although I mostly use it to suck the water out of my ears because it would make them itch like crazy. It's a good product for preventative maintenance.

I wouldn't go to the doctor unless you are having some pain. Use the drops and wash. I think the guy in the video was trying to hard to get it in one try. You need a little pressure but not squeeze it as hard as you can. The other thing would be to do it at different angles.

Just got my order of Debrox and Ear Bulb Syringe from Amazon today. Watched the Lions get fukked over moments ago. Put the Debrox drops in my ear... about 5 of them. Waited 20 minutes. Blasted the water from the syringe in my ear... nothing came out.

Of course I was able to hear a little better. More clearer. Then it became a tad muffled again after 5 minutes.

Put some hydrodgen peroxide drops in my ear. For 5 minutes... then drained it out. I like using that stuff because the liquid comes right out. Of course... no wax came out.

I'm dizzy as fuk at the moment. Feel like throwing up. This ear thing is annoying as fuk.

I think the dizzy spell came from some imbalance from shooting the water in the ear. It cleared up in about 4 hours or so.

If Clemson +7 covers... I'll go see the doctor.

    Probably a tumor or something.

I was reading online about something about taking a decongestant? That somehow your ear can actually get plugged behind the eardrum... and it might work. What would life be without problems? You fix one thing... another thing pops up.

I tried a few of those things also before I ended up going to the doctor. I remember after she basically power cleaned it, I was quite dizzy for a bit. I think you are best to go to the doctor and be done with it if it is still bothering you. GL

I have had a few American friends say stuff like this to me over the years.

Either wont go to the doctor or wont buy medicine due to cost.

I guess you guys are used to it and it doesn't seem as outrageous to you as it does to people in other Western countries with universal healthcare systems.

I wish you could come here for a month and see how it works. When the govt is the only pharmaceutical buyer they can negotiate prices to a small percentage of what big pharma abuses Americans with price wise. Most stuff cost 10 or 15 bucks. And I mean the same products you pay 100s for. And nobody ever, ever, ever even has to think about if they can go to the doctor.

Maybe Obamacare was bad but it's mad the way so many Americans argue against universal health care. It should be like a basic human right in any rich country that taxes us highly to access decent medical care. That and education should be among the first things govt spend our money.

I have several issues about doctors in the USA. If the situation could be corrected in one appointment... I'd probably do it.

The main issue is that there are some Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors that would probably intentionally prolong this. Then, possibly correct the issue on the 3rd try. So, I just forked over 1k on useless fees. I hate wasting money. I grade myself on being smart with my money.

I remember when I was younger... my Dad had great insurance for the family. You sneezed... and my Dad would say... go to the doctors son... we have the insurance. The entire appointment was covered 100%. And a $2.00 co-pay on prescriptions. No lie. That's what we had.

Now, you have to think everything through. Do I really need to go? Is it worth it? I weigh a lot of things out. Because.... even with a decent insurance now... you still pay $80-$100 for a visit fee.

I just put more Debrox in my ear.... going to let it soak in for a bit. Not blow it out with water as quickly... maybe it will loosen up on it's own?

That's interesting. Had not thought about that aspect.

An ENT specialist gets paid partially by the patient and partially by the govt. It would cost me 180-240 at the time of appointment and I would see about 120 of that back a few days later. (specialists can charge what they like but govt sets a scheduled fee which they will cover 2/3 of)

Because every billing includes a govt rebate claim doctors cant get away with over treatment as it comes up as a flag as soon as they are out of normal range for treatment sessions and they get asked to explain.

Dentists here we have the same problem as you with that though. Not covered here unless you are very poor.

i went in to my doc to have my sperm count checked, and have pretty good insurance with aetna since my wife is a senior it engineer with them, and I show up, show my card, and a sexy young nurse comes out, takes me by the hand, guides me into a private room.....

she works me up with some type of warm oil and, to cut the story short, manipulates my sample out of me.... as she's finishing up, she takes me by the hand and we walk out of the private room, and I immediately see three new arrival patients in the general physical therapy area across the room, standing in a row jerking their junk like mad, staring at centerfolds tacked to the wall, crank in one hand, plastic jizz container in the other....

I say wtf is this shit? and the sexy nurse says, "oh, those are our obamacare patients."

Had the same thing. All of a sudden my right ear was clogged up and muffled. I also had the dizzy part although it wasn't enough to cause problems except that I couldn't concentrate. This was all after I had a cold.

A couple weeks go by and it all cleared up. I too didn't like going to the doc but I would suggest it.

A hooker that I knew had a similar problem, so she said, "fukk me in the ear so I can hear you cumming".

Actually, you can go to health food store and buy an "ear candle". It's like a conical, waxy
parchment that you light on the wide end, stick the narrow end in your ear (Lie down on a sofa with the clogged ear up) and let it burn (maybe 2/3rd's) down.
The bottom inch of the cone will fill with ear wax. Voila!!

I have had this several times. You probably have some fluid trapped down in your inner ear. They have a name for it but can't remember what it is. Been to the Dr once or twice for this. They always prescribe a nasal spray that you use twice a day and tell me to take like a sudafed or comparable allergy medication. Usually clears up in about a week to 10 days. They tell me if I would quit smoking that i wouldn't get it so often.
