Anyone Giving Playstation Vue A Shot? I Think I'm Going To Try It

I think I'm ready to dump cable and satellite TV. Never thought this day would ever come. Been studying a lot about this Playstation Vue TV stuff... and I'm almost ready to give my free trial a shot.

Just some quick info on the plans....

Basically it's like a small medium or large for programming. Every city is different for pricing. Blame Sony on that one... um... picture quality is supposed to be pretty much the same.

The only issue is that the audio only comes in 2 channel format. So... you can't use 5.1 surround sound effect.

But regardless... if you can watch TV for $34.99 a month. And you can hook it up to 5 TV's in your house.... (if you wanted to) then why are we paying all these providers for receivers... rentals... and all this other miscellaneous equipment crap?

You guys should look into it!

    I agree.

My 5 tv's are collecting dust because I was sick of paying 200/month for a bunch shit I don't watch.(Direct TV)

Let me know how that works out.
If it's worth it or not.

No problem. I might even do a video about it. Pros/Cons to everything... but excited to give this a shot.

Before you give that a shot, look into Amazon FireeTV jailbroken on Ebay. One time fee for the box & HDMI cord. Paid $120 over a year ago, can't be much more now. Then you pay $0.00/month for the rest of your life.

You get every sporting event around the world, movies that are currently in theaters, all USA + World channels, & a lot of porn content. You just need an internet connection, as the small box works off internet links.

If you have a HD tv, then I suggest the box as it will get you a quality picture. Otherwise, you can get the stick for half the price: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...roken&_sacat=0

I just switched to using Kodi last month. Dumped DirecTV since my contact ended in May. Can't beat it, I still get what I want to watch and don't pay a penny in subscriptions fees, just the cost of the box I bought. I highly recommend it.

Exactly, Kodi/FireTV is the way to go. Between Directv & internet, I used to pay $200/month. Now I pay $9.95 for both & have more content.

Just wanted to update this thread. Got some advice through PM from BobbyWaves. Did some more research on the internet. Figured I could try and give this a shot myself without purchasing one on Ebay. Got the thing working. Tons of videos on YouTube how to set up Kodi. Spent 5 hours doing it today... and getting the feel of it. As one person said on YouTube... the movies etc are endless... you think of any movie... I'm sure you could find it. But there is one issue...

Quality. The true resolution may never be 1080. Some files claim it's 720... but remember you're getting the feed through Ethernet or Wifi... and I'm seeing some distortion. Not major... but... it's there.

So... perhaps I didn't program everything on mine... or find All the true sites out there that have high quality? BestBuy has a 15 day return period... so if I don't like it... I'll erase everything and get a refund. But I'm really tired... went to the gym... busted my ass... and then spent 5 hrs straight messing with this thing and loading everything. Super tired now. Tomorrow is another day.

If anyone has more info on Kodi... PM me... or respond to this thread.

The quality varies, but there are many links & apps for whatever you're watching to choose from. So if one link has poor picture quality, is buffering, or cuts out on you, just try another link.

You want to download the Simply Caz repo, then download Castaway from that repo. Castaway will give you all your sports. Once inside Castaway click on live sport, I find that Atdhernet.tv links will give you the best quality picture.

I appreciate the follow up waves. I've been studying it more and more... I did the Castaway download. Some live media files when you open them up just stall. Like it says... "opening media file" and nothing happens. Then, I tried a different sport.... the video looks like I'm playing on the Atari 2600. I'd rather click on ESPN.com and just look at sports scores... and forget the game.

The only advantage I see so far.... movie selection on Exodus. Most of the movies are in 720p.... and don't pause or skip etc. But honestly... I didn't want this thing for the movies. Wanted it for free live sports. Not really a movie guy. But if you are a movie type... it could come in handy.

So... for the $100 Fire TV Box.... I really don't see the advantage in this so far. Yes, it's free... everything is free.... but the poor video quality... don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze? I feel like I'm wasting my time with this.

Back to the Playstation Vue.... I'm probably going to give the 7 day free trial a shot in a few days. I'll let everyone know what I think of it.
