Tip jobs like bartenders and waiters are going to be making bank. Friend of mine is a bartender, she claims to make $100k+ a year in tips alone plus her minimum wage salary. Imagine what she will be making when her salary doubles. Why even go to school to become a teacher/Doctor/accountant when you can be making $150k a year as a bartender? Don't have to claim those tip either

First of all the $15 an hour doesn't even take effect until 2022. Second of all there is not a bartender in the world that makes over $100,000 a year. Sorry but your friend is lying. Either she is a high priced hooker or robbing the restaurant. No bartender makes $100,000 a year. Give me a break.

I know a lot of bartenders who make over 100k a year.

Yeah maybe if they bartend 20 hours a day 7 days a week. Other than that I find it hard to believe a bartender making 6 figures.

Well I knew a few in a small college town prob taking home 40k so really isn't that far fetched. One was making almost 1k in tips a wk so idk. If you got a nice body and big guys will tip anything when drunk lol

    5 days a week
    52 weeks per year
400 bucks a shift in wages and tips
    104k

I'm not sure why that is so unbelievable.

At an LA area restaurant that would be pretty easy. You basically have to average about 2000 per shift in sales.

I know a gal that tends bar here in Vegas at a high end club in a strip property. I don't know exactly what she makes BUT I know she does VERY VERY well. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she's bringing home over $100K/year/

But like I said this doesn't even go into effect until 2022, 8 years from now. Whole story is misleading. Does not change anything for another 8 years so who cares.

I probably know more bartenders here in Vegas that do make 6 figures than ones that don't.

Growing up in the midwest and being in restaurants there it seemed impossible. Got out of my bubble, and saw people in Vegas, Cali and Hawaii all making 6 figures tending bar, working 30-35 hrs a week or so.

What year is it where you live? It's 2016 where I am. Are you posting from 2014?

You have no clue what you're talking about. Many bartenders in Socal and Vegas make 100k+
