    Everyone from my hometown (Louisville) uses "coke" as a generic word (I just call it by it's name). My wife refers to it as "soda" (she is from Illinois, right outside of Champaign) which I view as decently acceptable. Pop just sounds stupid, like a child.

    love this detailed map.... made me wonder wtf is goin' down in Lavaca County, Texas..... (near my native s. tex. county).... love how many of the counties I hunt in (LaSalle, McMullen, Kennedy, etc.,) have forever been labeled as they were by the result of ONE FUKKIN' VOTER!!! lol

    whoops, not even one of the 129 Mescins actually living in McMullen County even responded to the survey..... very lazy in those parts..... damn I killed some nice deer there

    Soft drink is the name of the beverage. Pop and soda are slang terms. They are called soft because there is no alcohol, the same reason hard lemonade is called hard because it has alcohol in it.

    Hell, I've all ready had cancer so why not have some soft drinks?

    On a side note, I remember asking my parents to get me hard lemonade when I was younger as I thought it meant it had more flavor.

    ^ So then if you spike Coca Cola with rum or Southern Comfort you should then call that drink "Hard Coke".. That then sounds like a deadly addictive drug.. Can't win with all these names!!!

    It was supported by the military.

    The military wanted it shipped over for the troops in WW2. Coke got some sort of contract to produce it "fresh" for the troops across the atlantic. Smart ploy to build manufacturing in other countries and grow it into a huge global product.

    Ha, it seems like not much money now but according to saving.org the value of $40 then is equivalent to $573.39.

    That's a pretty hefty chunk of change to drop on something you know nothing about

    Something that is recent that could have made you a millionaire is Bitcoin. Just 5 and a half years ago (9/27/10) a Bitcoin's value was $0.06 USD. Today it is worth $412.47.

    If you'd spent $40 then and sold what you had today you'd have turned that $40 into $274,980 (that's if you passed up selling it on 11/25/13 for $979.49 a pop, which would have netted you $652,993.33)

    Bitcoin wow.. Yeah Apple had their stock prices blow up over the years as well.. Google too.. Bunch of live stock out there that could have made you bank but you do need a crystal ball to forsee these things or have insider info..

    Penny stocks are a true gamble IMO unless you know things the general public doesn't...
