Syria and Russia go way back. Russia supports its friends and old alliances. The US has been Fing with Russia with the Ukrainian coup and Putin has a chance to show up the US and show them how things get done. And he's going to do it. They had better stop Fing with Putin because he is way smarter than we are and he doesn't mind showing it.
He doesn't want any of this bleeding over into the Russia where they have some problems with Muslim radicals.
If you think Obama or anybody else can stand up to Russia at this point, you are an idiot. Bush and Obama have screwed up so bad, they can't do anything at this point.

I agree that we should have left Assad alone because Syria never mattered anyways. If Syria mattered in anyway, we would have invaded them just like we did in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our wars were never about the Taliban, so whether we defeated them or not is a moot point. They're more valuable to America alive than they are dead
