Do you tip your Uber driver?

How many of you guys ever use Uber? I travel a lot for work and Uber is incredibly more convenient than most cab services and a ton cheaper. You can set your *********** to pay for the ride, they just pick you up, hit your card for the final ride amount, no signing anything, no getting wallet out. Its easy. So last night I am in my uber to the hotel and struck a convo with the girl who said she liked lyft better (competing service) because you could tip through the app instead of having to give cash in uber. I was kind of floored and assumed she was trying to get me to give her some cash so I didn't of course but when I googled it I came across a lot of articles talking about tipping (one of them: https://www.thezebra.com/insurance-n...r-uber-driver/)

I hate it and never will tip in cash - the biggest convenience for me of all this is that its all done automatically and I just get an e-mailed receipt. I am a *********** rewards whore so cash would piss me off - I get nothing when I use it - haha. I would be totally fine if the app built in a thing that just let me always tip 15% or whatever unless I specifically denied it (you rate drivers so just say anyone over 3 stars gets a tip or whatever).

Am I in the minority here? Anyone use Uber often that tips cash all the time?

    never used it

Uber drivers make about $7 per hr when you add up everything its why cab drivers who leave go back to CABS way more money and medical benefits

If you drive Uber and have to by medical benefits then you make about $3 per hr

Used uber the first time this weekend. It's such a good deal I threw $5 tip for each ride. Would feel like a cheap skate if I didn't.

i use often and tip 20% or min $5 depending on distance/fare. You are still saving compared to cab fares. Especially if im going from jersey to philly...you dont even have to pay the bridge toll ($5) if you use uber.

Bunch of cheap fukks around here.

JJGold all in the thread like hes got 5 bucks to tip. Or a smartphone to even use the app. Or money in a bank account to pay Uber.

This thread is for real Uber rides not "mental" ones goldy

One, wtf is an uber driver?

Two, you know you pay a higher interest rate using your CC to get money back, right? And what do you get back 1%?
Oldest trick in the book from CC companies. You will get a better rate if you don't have cash back and have a set money limit.

A card from my credit union with a set credit amount and no cash back was 2 percentage points lower.

If you pay off your card every month you're good, but they know most don't do that.

Three, you don't have a couple of bucks in cash for a tip?

Bear where do you live where people work for $2.13 per hour? That would be illegal here in California. Servers and bartenders make at least minimum wage which is $9.00 per hour plus tips.

    Only Mexicans work for less.

Oh and you are not supposed to tip Uber drivers.

It has been moved in Ohio to 3.98 an hour.....restaurants USE AND ABUSE servers (put too many on a shift) to get them to work for 3.98 cents....after 1-2 hour of no tips they have to move you to min wage....so they cut you or give you a 1 person table....there is a special place in hell for people that dont tip....lets just say CAlI is ahead of the game and moving to $10 an hour in Jan 16...Most states pay tipped employees 4-5.50 an hour.....thats right...so maybe leave a fuckn 5 spot lol...

"Not supposed to tip" sounds a lot like "I'm a cheap hamburger who doesn't get this is a guys personal car he's hustled into a second job"

Did you know the standard IRS deduction for mileage is .57/mile? Not many Uber drivers are making money once you factor that into what they take home so why not help the guy out for saving you at least 50% of a normal cab? I get the feeling most fuks out there have this cheapskate attitude because whenever I tip the drivers they lose their mind with excitement.

I tip waiters, bartender, pizza boys, the bitch that cuts my hair, hell I tip that mother fukker in Vegas who opens the taxi door for me when I leave the casino.

I tried tipping the Uber driver the very first time I used Uber and he said "Oh no thank you. We are not supposed to take tips". Thats why I never tried again. Has this changed?

Second time I used Uber I had that fukker take me through the Jack in the Box drive through on the way home. I Got myself a burger and soda and got the Uber driver the same thing. I guess that was his tip.

I too was once told by an Uber driver that no cash is allowed to be exchanged and couldn't take my tip. I just assumed he was right so I never even tried to tip again. I'd hate to be thought of as a "stiff" for not tipping... I just really thought it wasn't allowed.

Same here chipper was told the same

I tip well for just about everything but didn't know Uber drivers even accepted them...Gave the driver a slice of some awesome buffalo chicken pizza I brought home while hammered Saturday so don't feel so bad now

I use Uber a lot and don't really save money but it's way more convenient...Wonder why these drivers are telling us not to tip them while others tip all the time

It's Uber's policy. The guy who started Uber thinks tipping is ruining the world. Literally. His name is Travis and he is a real ass hole.
That's why Lyft is way better. There is an option to tip and you can also comment on any aspect of the ride good or bad right there on your phone after you end the ride.

The smart guys switch to Lyft as soon as the demand gets reasonable.

Tons of chicks and connections. Best part time job ever invented in American History.
