The flag symbolizes southern pride and it has ALWAYS symbolized southern pride and freedom. Slavery was wrong and the south was wrong for promoting slavery but the flag was never intended to symbolize slavery. If a flag was made that featured a black man in chains I can understand the issue but the Confederate flag was made for the south as a whole and not slavery.
