Sure seems that way

It wasn't that long ago MF'er, Durito, Mathdotcom, TrixTrix, Justin7, Johnny "Black Label" Walker, Shari, Bread, Chi_Archie, Cap Dat 4ss, 4LengthsClears, OPIE1988, BillySink, THE PRICK and Ganch used to post regularly. Too many others to name. JJGOLD was on his game. Being pro was worth it for Americans. There were in-game threads for almost every game that would go hundreds of replies deep. Guys had been around, they knew the game. Lot of quant guys with backgrounds in programming and writing code. It was a cappers forum. I never thought I'd say it but even Patty, RogueScholar and their good squad were high quality.

Now it's a fan forum. Very few guys really get it. They have no edge. Hell, half don't even know what an edge is. Very few bet games. Most are just here to talk shit and because they got nothing better to do. Very little capping talk goes on, when it does it's "what does plus even (+ev) mean?".

I think SBR has officially hit rock bottom in a hard way. It's night and day compared to what it used to be. The good ol' days are long gone and they ain't comin back. The guys we had here were a one time deal.

Without a doubt but the quality now is dismal. Me being a part of that. But it's like going from playing on the San Antonio Spurs the last 10 years to playing on this years 76er's team. It's almost unbelievable the spread in quality from then to now

I think naturally some guys just moved on from forumville, some guys broke off to start their own forums, some guys left because of the constant trolling and others left after the betislands fiasco. Not sure why Ganch quit posting.

So there's certainly a multitude of factors that play a role.

I'm not 100% sure John really cared if they were around anymore than the next poster. Typically in any business, you want to keep your best customers happy. John never seemed to do that with those list of guys. But I don't know anything about his business model, so while they were great posters with a wealth of knowledge and information, they may have offered him little. I don't know.

Ultimately, you find out a way to keep the best people around. Whatever that is.

I just can't imagine all those posters leaving is good for business.

The gambling climate for Americans can't get much worse than it currently is, too. I'd say that's the most damning aspect to most of the forums these days.

The constant trolling is ridiculous, but that's in play everywhere. At Covers the moderators would look for reasons to ban you, that doesn't seem to be the case here. I realize bannings happen, but the leash is a lot longer here.

Appeasing everyone can't be easy.

The poker tables are still full. I know that much.
