Tried to learn how to play when i was young. Just never could pick it up, looks easier than it is. So i have great respect for anyone that does play. It just amazes me what some of these guys can do with a guitar.

Jeff "Skunk" Baxter did a lot of good stuff with Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers
    if you dig 70s.

I saw Steve Morse live when he was in Kansas. Very capable and creative guitarist.

Shitload of 80's guys in mostly one hit wonder bands to Joe public but amazing guitarists nonetheless with a few blues guys thrown in.
    Nuno Bettercourt
    Andy Timmons
    Warren DeMartini
    Vito Bratta
    Kk and Glenn from Priest
    Dave, Adrian from Maiden
    Paul Gilbert
    Jason Becker
    Tony MacAlpine
    Ty Tabor
    Chris Duarte
    Ian Moore
    Blues Saraceno
and Joe Bonamassa who is finally getting more buzz lately.
Just a few more names that most are familiar with some of the bands or a couple of their songs but never got their due or spotlight outside of guitar circles for most part. 80's was a helluva decade for great guitar work!

As individual players the boys from Maiden and Priest often get overlooked, a "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" situation. Check out Adrian Smith's work with Roy Z. on Dickinson's solo stuff. Actually preferred it to the non-Bruce Maiden releases.

Tabor definitely falls into the under-rated category, as does King's X. Solid band that just couldn't get over the hump. Seen them a handful of times, excellent live. All 3 really good musicians.

I saw the Scorpions in 1984. 8th row center I was only 16. smoke and booze everywhere.
we used to smoke pipes of weed at indoor arenas back then. times have changed. even coke
out in the open being snorted. Anyway it was a great show, they had a lot of awesome stage
props including a giant scorpion that was like a platform. This was the Love at First Sting tour.
Bon Jovi was a no-name band who opened up for them, they only had one song out then on
    the radio called "Runaway".

    Eric Johnson (G3 concert) - S.R.V.

Tribute to the late great Stevie Ray. When this particular G3 tour came to my area Johnson split off and did his own show; saw him one night and Satriani/Vai/Kenny Wayne Shepherd 2 weeks later. Way back in 1997, jeezus I'm getting old.

Speaking of SRV, doesn't fit the op's topic but hard to have a guitar thread without paying homage to one of the greats. He often gets overlooked (out of sight out of mind maybe) when media types speak of great guitarists, and radio has all but forgotten him. Makes me sad I never got to see him live; he and Jeff Beck played the Sun Dome in Tampa in the early '80s and I missed it. Never got another chance.

One of my favorite SRV songs, guy could make a guitar cry.

    Life Without You (1987)

Post who ever you want. I would consider this unrated music. Never got much radio play. Which is kinda a good thing. They play everything to death. Much like this band.

Here's some under rated Cooper for Halloween. Never heard this on the radio. 8000 views on Youtube. Good to scare the kids with as you pass out candy.

Here's one from the school courtyard. Me and my friends blasting these's guys on a cassette, smoking weed, and just fuking around making trouble. Most of the douche bags that watch American Idol, have no idea what these guy's are. Or heard any of their music that was good.

One of Stevie's best songs ever. Might be a cover tune but his version is just as bad ass as Hendrix. Definitely not under rated, but sadly missed. Phenomenal guitar player!

Yep, Change It definitely a great song. I posted Life Without You because I remember seeing him playing it on Austin City Limits or some other show years ago and just tearing it up. Always stuck with me.
