How much is it to buy a hot dog cart in NYC?

I could see this being a solid career. Probably make over $250/day cash and the time would go by pretty fast. Carts themselves are only about a grand. Then just hot dogs, buns and condiments. Triple the price to sell them and you would make so much money.

However where do you keep the cart at night?

You would need to rent a parking spot and those are very expensive in NYC. or storage again not cheap. also you could buy an old truck and an old trailer and transport it out of the city each day. but gas prices and tolls would get you there.

Im looking at rentals in queens right now. a place that has some free storage. get the cart wheel it out around 10am stay on the street corner until about 6 pm. all profit and no taxes

here is a cart for $1,100

seems like one guy could push that around a few city blocks. im going to do this i already have over $4k offshore and more in the bank. would only be a few months until i made my investment back

You need license, and once you get it which ain't cheap, GL not paying taxes on that when the city clearly sees you have hotdog vendor license and not paying taxes on it...

Yeah but then a bunch of kids will steal it, trash it, then get sent to juvenile detention where they get sexually abused by alcoholic guards. Do you really want that on your conscience?

did you look at the guy next to the yellow cart. im not scared of a group of teens beating me down yelling "sick faggit" and stuff like that

cant just attack a hotdog guy before night time anyways

as for licenses its zoo york do you think those guys are all legit. of course not. its the wild west out there. either way im going to NYC cause there you have to live right. you might only get 2-3 seconds then a flash and then you are obliterated

Tony typically these trucks are small meaning low to the ground

You're tall as your handle says , do you think you are too tall for the truck tony

Id be concerned that all that bending down reaching for hot dogs out of the water and putting it in a bun would be bad for your back

I think this would be a great cover for booking

Your customers would come to you for a hot dog, then you chat them up about the Jets and the Knicks, next thing you know lots of cash is changing hands as you give them a hotdog.

Cart and license is cheap. Finding a good location that isn't taken is a bitch.

NYC anything is going to be limited and expensive as hell...venture out to a park somewhere or I see them outside smaller businesses a good bit in summer, next to sno cone stands. Can't see it being a solid career but definitely seems like good supplementary income if you want to have that.

As far as aspirations go, its fairly realistic and attainable. Just doesn't seem all that great...

The carts that you show are much smaller than the typical nyc cart. Not sure of the fees to get license, etc but the growth of food trucks in nyc has put a large dent in the business these carts once had. Most carts sell more than just hot dogs now, which is why they are much bigger - so the cost would be much greater. I think you still can make decent money, but the hours are long and the weather can be brutal. Good
    luck.

$1100 and you have to endure the weather. Might as well get one of these for $15

At .50 per dog the kid's clearly losing money and will not be in business long...buy him out for his equipment and raise the price and you're on your way Tony

Do the umbrellas come with the carts?

And I would imagine condiments can really cut into profits. I would buy the generic kind.
