Ok Mets lets go do it Bartolo for Kemp

Wondering f the Dodgers would be interested
They want 1 more big name pitcher
Salaries could kind of off set if the Dodgers take C Young and pay half his year this year 3 mill.
Mets would have a set line up to go with awesome pitching even the pen is good now/
Of course we still have Loser Collins to hold us back but he should be gone after this year.
    Lagarus
    Murphy
    Wright
    Kemp
    Duda
    Grandy
    Tda
    Tejada

Thats an everyday line up to bad we are forced to play Grandy for the next4 years but thats the Mets Brass
    for you.
Dodgers get Colon to fill the 4 spot in the rotation not bad. Kemp has been crying and the Dodgers OF is crowded

If I'm the Dodgers I want more than Colon regardless how much they want to rid of Kemp.

I'll take Scott Van Slyke and Dee Gordon for Ruben Tejada and Zack Wheeler instead.

    Thanks.

This. Although Colon ahead of Haren possibly Beckett if he starts regressing.

Kemps starting to remind me of Ryan Howard, way to much talent but just doesn't seem to care (moneys already in the bank).

    Colon is not a stud.
    He's 41, he's fat, he's 9-8 with a 4 ERA.
    On a contender, he's a #3 guy at best.

I think the Seattle Mariners would be a good fit for Colon...they are 53 - 48 or something like that and in wild card contention....Colon absolutely loves pitching in that park where he has won like 12 in a row dating back to 2001!...Now, I realize all that was done against the Mariners, but still his confidence level would be extremely high pitching there and it is considered a pitchers park for the most part.

You guys are forgetting that Kemp hit 265 last year and is hitting 265 thisyear plus he whines because he doesnt play CF
    So the trade doesmake sense
Colon is fat an old.....But Colon has 8-10 wins left in his Belly this year which would be huge for the Dodgers
And Colon has always been fat and old

If all is healthy, Mets front four next season is Harvey, LeGrom, Wheeler, Niese.
They need Niese (LHP) their best chip is Gee.

Move Gee for a proven big boy bat, they got a good farm system, I don't think you can move Colon for much though.

Yeah, after watching the Brews make Gee their personal meat puppet, Gee needs to go.

Who's in the market for a finesse pitcher without much finesse though?

I heard a rumor about Bartolo eating an entire rack of ribs between innings once. He almost got tossed out of the game cuz he was getting barbecue sauce all over the infield.

Mets ain't gunna get much for Colon....Teams don't wanna pay his contract next year

He could help a contender down the stretch and Mets don't need him going forward with all the young arms

Really? Try taking a look at San Diego. Lowest runs allowed in the National League and how are they doing. Baseball is all about balance, you need good hitting and good pitching to be a winner.

you see howard's comments yesterday about perspective? the reporter asked him if this was a low point,,, he replied with "a low point, psch. you have to keep this in perspective. this is a game. kids play at the park. this is a game. a game. i have a wife and a beautiful baby boy and one on the way..."
I think you have nailed it on Howard. He was great, got paid, won his mvp, got his ring, and isnt interested anymore. That's fine. That's his prerogative, but i think you should probably not tell people about perspective when you cash $25M each year.

SD is the exception, not the rule.
    You need pitching to win.
Unless you are the Bash Brothers with Canseco and Big Mac, which was pretty much the last championship won with crappy pitching, you can win with light hitting and heavy hitting ten times more that with heavy hitting and light pitching.

Defense in more important that hitting too.
1984 Tigers with Trammell, Whitaker, Lemon up the middle won a lot of games with that up the middle gold glove defense.

Pitching wins, 97 times out of 100.

    Nasher,
As a diehard Braves fan growing up (DC didn't get a team until the former Montreal Expo's went defunct) I used to think that was the case as well..and yes, generally speaking it is true that good pitching beats good hitting...hence why in baseball when a hitter only succeeds 30% of the time (.300 batting avg.) it is considered great....getting back to the point, all the great pitching the Braves had when they won an MLB record 14 straight division titles from 1991 - 2004 with three, count 'em three HOF pitchers!...Glavine, Maddux are already in and Smoltz will be joining them very soon...and only one world series victory to show for it?!!...because their hitting and bats sucked moose dong and they couldn't get hits with runners in scoring position...If the Braves had any semblance of an offense during that era they would have easily won a bare minimum of eight titles with arguably the greatest rotation in the history of the game.

Dodgers of the 60's won with Maury Wills as their offense.
More recent: Snakes won with Randy Johnson and Schilling.
What was their offense? Matt Williams?
