I use vegan sport nutrition supplements..reduces inflammation a lot...proteins easier on the digestive tract. I cant make the switch to become a vegan though...too many animal products I like and my business is based on animal protein also makes it harder.

Congrats on the weight loss, although be careful not to develop an unhealthy relationship with food. You're feeling awesome because you lost so much weight, and because you started eating more plants - not because you quit eating animals. Any diet that requires supplementation is obviously not your correct diet.

I don't think a guy nicknamed 'Chilidog' should be offering nutritional advice. Non-vegans don't supplement?

Thank you...it's apparent to me now that meat & dairy is an addictive force. The addiction wanes after a few months and the body & mind feel amazing. The thought of eating decomposing flesh & drinking stuff intended for cow is disgusting.

protein shakes and tofu... i know some asians who are strict vegans and live off them ... the hugh weight loss is brutal though... no matter what you tell yourself, when you cut that much weight, you lose a good amount of muscle too... its unhealthy and very unadvised to cut calories to the point of losing almost 1lb a day .. but sounds like you got the hard part out of the way... and boner is partially correct, when you cut calories that much, your body is depleted of vital minerals and vitamin levels ... everyone needs a One a Day multi... dont matter if you are dieting or not ...

If you don't want to eat soy, then you would be eating a lot of beans, grains and supplementing your diet with plant-based protein powders. Avoiding soy makes it much more difficult, but it can be done. See veganbodybuilding.com.

But why avoid animal products? Is it for ethical/moral reasons?

It's a good book in that it emphasizes the huge importance of plants in our diet. It's not a good book in that he demonizes certain foods, which is rarely helpful. Plain and simple, we're not getting our nutrients in. We don't eat enough fruits and vegetables.

Author Michael Pollan said it best: "Eat Food, not too much, mostly plants". By volume, absolutely, most of our intake should be from plants. And we'll see the drastic change in our health, energy levels, quality of sleep, reduction in prescription medication usage, etc. But we don't do this. And we are a very sick world as a result of this.

But there's absolutely nothing wrong with animals, grains, dairy, or whatever fad diet of the month's restriction is (provided that your body can digest a given food with no ill effects). All that matters is your total caloric and nutrient intake - the individual makeup of each food is irrelevant.

Ive had same results with low carb/ketogenic diet. .I'm a ball of energy running off almost pure fat.

I lift a lot more, drink and go out all the time and bang broads a decent amount. It's a miracle

You're results are most likely from not eating shit, losing weight and exercising. Not eating something we are supoosed to eat [our teeth are made for both meat and grazing] isn't going to do it itself.

Congrats though if it's what helps YOU then absolutely stick with it.

I added fresh-water sardines and salmon to the diet (so im veg not vegan)...taking a greens shake from green vibrance and a protein powder from vega cut down on many individual supplements due to additive like magnesium stearate .
Hemp protein is very good. Was eating lots of burgers but like the zucchini burgers my gf makes too. The big Gardenburgers at Costco are amazing and packed with protein.

Our teeth made for meat? you think we could tear the flesh off an animal and eat it like some wild animal...raw meat would probably kill us and why does it take so many days for us to digest and crap it out? If you want cancer, heart disease, pollution, destruction of animals tortured for the food etc etc knock yourself out.

Chilidog is right. Humans are supposed to eat what they have been bred to eat for thousands of years. Whatever combination of that you want is fine. We were NOT bred to eat suppliments or all of the weird chemicals that are in most of your food now. The latter is mostly why a lot of you are fat. The rising number of unnatural preservatives and shit chemicals that got put into our food supply is directly correlated with how fat we became as a country.

Just eat what humans are supposed to eat (this is why Paleo has become more than just a fad). Steak, butter, cream, lard, all that is completely fine as long as you do your best to keep the hormones and chemicals out of there. Yes, you're going to have to spend a bit more for organic, but the trade-off is worth it 100X over.
