    Wow.

No Dimmu Borgir (especially their earlier shit)

No Cradle? These are the classics of the genre no matter what they did later.

This song is brutal: Cradle of Filth covering Iron Maiden's "Hallowed be thy name"

For you guys who enjoy good music, especially if you enjoy Sabbath, you really need to check out a real innovator of their time that has next to zero recognition even though their sound reverberates through the sounds of greats of their time.

    The Pretty Things.

It will sound dated, as it should, but the musical brilliance of the time is something to look back upon and marvel, IMO. Nothing close to death metal, but I will without a doubt call them a big inspiration to Sabbath who later inspired many of the bands already posted in this thread.

I like rock music, u can label it how u want. but in general, the stuff considered death or slash metal, just ain't my thing. I like to somewhat understand what a singer is screaming.
I went and seen a band called volbeat recently, it was a pretty cool show.

Rickie = great list and I like Fight on there definitely a undervalued band featuring the metal god on vocs and Parrish for one on guitar who I've met and has played for Atomic Punks, Metal Shop, and now the new bigger band with Ralph?!? And let's not forget the drum machine Mr Scott Travis!

Adr- great list and thanks for reminding me on some Motorhead hell yes!! And Seputura , Lamb Of God to name a couple more.

L-kid- really you kidding me? Then get out of the metal forum hahaha. Seriously love and respect ya sports wise but you don't know metal or what it's all about. Bet you cannot make out 70% of what being said word for word in a AcDc , Van Halen, Zeppelin song either but everyone loves them bout as much as I love your argument and find it funny!

B1 - nice list and way underground got some early industrial and crossover there very nice! Ministry, Prong, Dri , Sod a few more I say hell yes too!!

Forgot how fun these guys are live.
Some of the band members were in Helloween when I saw them back in the early 90's.
Good to see them still rockin!
